After attending the all-conference meeting tonight I have news to report related to an earlier post.

The coaches from both the Blackbourn and the Richardson put to vote some of the changes that were discussed. Here is the format that passed and will go in to effect for 2009:

The divisions will disband and one giant league will form-13 teams total.

Each team will play 1 non-conference game and then have 8 conference games.

The teams will be seeded in order of finish and then will be scheduled. Due to the uneven amount of teams there still will be a revolving "non-con" week. 5 teams will have their non-con week during week 1 with 8 teams going head-to-head. Then over the remaining 8 regualr season weeks 1 team will have their non-con game.

The format is pretty much set and there looks to be some interesting matchups throughout the year.

Here is the seeding and the nine teams they will each play (in order) represented by their seeded number:

1 Riverside: non-con, 6, 4, 8, 5, 3, 11, 2, 7
2 Bay View: 11, 5, 7, 4, 3, 9, non-con, 1, 10
3 South: 12, 8, 6, non-con, 2, 1, 7, 4, 9
4 Tech: 8, 13, 1, 2, non-con, 10, 5, 3, 11
5 Madison: non-con, 2, 8, 12, 1, 6, 4, 7, 13
6 Hamilton: non-con, 1, 3, 7, 9, 5, 10, 13, 12
7 Custer: 9, non-con, 2, 6, 8, 11, 3, 5, 1
8 Pulaski: 4, 3, 5, 11, 7, 13, 12, 10, non-con
9 King: 7, 12, 10, 11, 6, 2, 13, non-con, 3
10 Washington: non-con, 11, 9, 13, 12, 4, 6, 8, 2
11 Marshall: 2, 10, non-con, 9, 13, 7, 1, 12, 4
12 Vincent: 3, 9, 13, 5, 10, non-con, 8, 11, 6
13 North: non-con, 4, 12, 10, 11, 8, 9, 6, 5

As for the voting tonight:
(I will try to post the complete list sometime later in the week)
Offensive Player of the Year: Ryan Givens, RB Riverside
Defensive Player of the Year: Nick Hill, LB Washington

This is really good news.

Eight conference games and a rotating NC is a bit cumbersome (I was hoping for a more traditional seven and two, as eight still gives the possibility of .500 records, and it's always nice to get out of conference experience), but this is a step in the right direction. It's good to see that mediocrity is not going to be rewarded and that (in this format anyway) suburban bigwigs will no longer be able to schedule a couple City teams to beat up on in the early season (here's lookin' at you, CMH).
