I read 3 stories today about some angst in the front office of the Packers.

Anyone else see these?

Is McCarthy s time about up?

Or is Rodgers to blame and the Packers wasted $134,000,000?

A few things are for sure, this team is undisciplined(foolish penalties), unprepared(behind 3 tds @ halftime), not taking care of the ball, and directionless.

No one even started a game thread for Detroit.

I think it was time to move on from McCarthy a few years ago, when Rodgers was much younger.  I havent seen the stories, but it does not surprise me 'stuff' is being talked about. To me the entire team has looked unprepared since they got going in the preseason. I dont know if it is the coaching or the players. Probably a combo of both. With more people in Wisconsin following the Brewers, I dont think the worst has been written about yet. I think for the most part NFL coaches have a shelf life of 8-10 years max and it isnt always the coaches fault. I thought the time for head coaching change was after the 2015 season. I definitely thought with the rearrangement of the front office, that was the time to bring in a new coach. Finally 'almost' got Thompson out - was time to replace McCarthy. McCarthy simply repeats the same mistakes too often. A change of coaches is usually a good thing too. Why wait till the team goes 2-14.

To this day, McCarthy STILL strikes me as an assistant coach - perhaps an offensive coordinator. Something about the guy that doesnt throw off the vibe that "I AM IN CONTROL". I havent seen it change to the better in recent years either. He certainly is a decent guy, but I dont think the team needs to stay with him forever.   Defense looks better - they finally brought a different DC in. I dont expect this defense this year to take much of a jump up in performance, but it is a start.

Stale coach. Stale system. Stale results.

It's definitely time for something new. A new voice, a new direction. Especially with the other three teams in the division trending up and no longer also-rans to get fat on.

One other thing to watch is #12 though. Starting to get bad flashbacks to out-of-control #4 under Sherman, just doing his own thing and going outside of the confines of the offense. Rodgers seems to have an aversion to simplify...always looking for the big play...as a result, some talented players' (Graham, Jones, Montgomery as a Sproles-esque pass-catcher...notice I'm spotlighting non-WRs) production suffers for it. It's boggled my mind how little this team uses TEs and RBs in the passing game when they're a huge part of nearly every other top-notch offense in the league. Not sure if that's more MM or, *sigh*, the QB.

Also have to be able to develop talent once it's there...

Who oversees the whole program? if position coaches fail, the HC fails.

Yep. Two weeks to prepare with a healthy squad to face an upstart team led by a young, innovative head coach.

And an upstart QB from Cal.

Changing of the guard?
Is Rodgers just another aging QB?

Expect his best, he doesn't want to lose to this kid.

This 5 game stretch will be the tell tale sign of whether MM will continue on with this team.  It really seems evident that his message is not bringing out the best in this team and with the changes to the defensive staff and philosophy, there are no more excuses. The lack of draft success has hurt without a doubt.

I could really see this team coming out of this 5 game stretch 1-4 and out of playoff contention.  2 straight years of sitting out the playoffs will probably mean the end for MM and that is ok.  This entire team needs an overhaul to make one last push with Rodgers to get back to the Super Bowl.

This past off season MM raved about his young backs , so in response he cuts Ripkowski and replaces him with has-beens named Lewis and Hendricks while not allowing any of his young backs enough touches to break a sweat... Rip might have helped on the typical MM run call for a safety .

Man, that was tough.
2 years in a row wasted?

Coaching error here on Zook?
It should have been made clear, take a knee, save clock, get ball in Rodgers hands.
Ridiculously STUPID mistake!

When watching this team, I've come to the conclusion that they have above average talent and are below average from a coaching standpoint.

Also, Rodgers shouldn't be absolved from the blame. He hasn't been his usual self.

Sounds like it was made pretty clear.

Bostick was cut for his blunder. This happens in NE, he'd already be out the door. Let's see what, if any, accountability remains in GB.
