In a free agency move that is probably best for everyone involved, Marshall Newhouse has left the Packers and signed with Cincinatti.

I interpret this as a big vote of confidence by the Packers for 3rd year tackle Derek Sherrod.

Thank god. I don't think I could take too much more of him.
A Playoff will be much more fair than the BCS.
No matter what happens, Rodgers GREATER THAN Favre.
St. Louis Cardinals = Classless

[h][/h]Newhouse will help Cinncinatti as they will move him back to the left side where he belongs , not often a team can get a proven NFL starting left tackle /guard for nothing who is only 25 years old and will be reunited with Andy Dalton . Newhouse simply could not adapt to the right side under the somehow still employed James Campen .

Confidence ? in Sherrod , Barclay , or Tretter will be shown by Ted Thompson in the upcoming draft , I expect two draft choices to be spent once again on tackles .

Good god, has Derek Sharrod ever actually played a game? I feel like he's been hurt pre-season every year.

Sherrod actually has just had one long injury that he has never come back from. I don't think that bodes well for his work ethic, to be completely honest.

I can't wait to watch Newhouse to become a very solid starter now that he's out from under Campen. Allen Barbre and Jamon Meredith started competently for teams last year, I think there are no bounds to how much an offensive lineman can improve once they leave the Packers and finally get a coach.

In Sherrod's defense, it was a completely devastating injury. When you break your leg as badly as he did, and at a position that requires quick feet and good footwork, naturally it will take a good amount of time to recover. And while Campen isn't a top coach, he has had success with other players. Think of Sitton, Lang, EDS, Bakhtiari, Barclay, among other no-names who had decent times in Green Bay.
Don't think, you can only hurt the ballclub.
If you can't play with integrity, don't play.

To be fair to Sherrod every recent report I've seen talked about with how gruesome the initial injury was the surgeon was not able to set the leg completely. Thus, he had to go back under for additional surgery to fix problems from the original surgery months later. That fact set him back months and further complicated the recovery.

That would certainly explain the almost 2 year recovery. I am cautiously optimistic that Sherrod will still turn out to be a talented OT. He never was supposed to be made a stud being a late first rounder, but he certainly has the talent to be pretty darn good.

The Packers easily could have a top 10 OL next year if they stay healthy, Bakh progresses, and they find a center. Lots of ifs, I know. But certainly possible.
The Brewers will finish 90-72 and earn the #1 WC berth.

Carlos Gomez will have a 30/40 season (HR/SB) and win a 2nd Gold Glove en route to an All Star selection.
