Thats just a threat. I cant see them being able to card 5000 students sprinting to the seats.

I guess the whole idea of not having assigned seats for basketball seems like a terrible idea. For football there are 8000+ seats outside, but at a basketball game it is more cramped, and inside. I can only imagine the hassles it causes. Plus...making you print a ticket? Don't you have to buy the whole season or can people buy single games? Why wouldn't they just send out tickets?

It is a little irritating having to line up hours before the game in order to get good seats for the good games. For our other non conference games so far, we have gotten there an hour before and gotten the seats we want. However, once the Big East season starts, getting there several hours before the doors even open (hour and a half before the tip) will be the norm. I guess it adds to the whole experience, but it does get old eventually. Once they fill up the lowerbowl, they send people upstairs, so its not like they pack more people into the area than there are seats. Part of me would rather have assigned seats, but if you have a consistent group that you always go to the game with, how do u know you will sit by them? I also dont want my assigned seat to be in the nosebleeds.

As for the ticketprinting, I think its a Ticketmaster thing. I would imagine it costs far less to make the students print them out, rather than mail out the cardboard tickets to several thousand people.

Yeah, waiting for an hour or so isn't too bad, but I like how UW has a line setup for like 3 or 4 days before the season starts that you can wait in. In groups of 4 you can get your seats. It works out quite well, as you get to know people around you too. As for ticketmaster...now I know why they make you print them yourselves. What a crock of a company. They surcharge you to death for tickets that are already overpriced. If they went out of business I wouldn't feel bad at all.

They could just get a sponsor to cover the cost of printing them. I think Wisconsin's has been Anchor Bank for since I can remember.

The rumor Ive been hearing is that Marquette oversold the student section and now they are concerned as to where to put everyone for this game. So they added a couple of tricks/threats such as the ID requirement and having to print out the tickets by last night. I talked to a supervisor at the last game and he said it would be impossible for them to check IDs.

THis printing out tickets is a joke. General admission is fine but money has to be the rational for printing tickets because it is a pain. All I know is that there has to be some PO students today after they realize they didnt print their tickets soon enough. They sent out that email over a week ago and Im sure many didnt even bother to read it.
