on a side note, i was down on MU's campus tonight.... there was this weird karate place and people in armor made of old street signs were hitting each other really hard in the head with lead clubs... oh yeah and the waitress at the annex says that MU hoops sucks... i found that funny

That karate place is random as hell. Just doesn't make sense to me to have that in a campus building b/c karate is offered at the rec center.

Here is Wisconsin's schedule,

Would Alando explain to me which of the following games he considers to be marquee games against tough oponents?
UWGB
Deleware St.
Missouri St.
Florida International
Winthrop
Pacific
Garner-Webb
UWM

Yes, they do play Marquette, Florida State, Georgia, Pitt

Those teams are no better than the teams on Marquette's non-conference schedule.

i disagree. marquette has no one the equal of pitt in non conference. granted they play them in conference, but that is not what the conversation is really about. uwm, winthrop and deleware st and pacific have been tounry teams recently. wasn't garner webb too?

wisconsin tougher non con.
marquette much tough con.

Marquette has the possiblity of playing Duke, Texas Tech, Stanford on their non-conference in a tournament. Northwestern St. has been a tourney team.

I just hope Marquette doesn't play that tough North Dakota St. buzzsaw that beat up on Bucky last year.

ok first off a powerhouse isnt an average team who finishes in the middle of the conference and gets to the ncaa tournament, a powerhouse is a team that wins their conference year in and year out and does well in the tournament, secondly i have never tried to defend wisconsin football's nonconference schedule, i think its terrible and have always wanted them to play better nonconference teams. and how is playing maryland baltimore county going to do anything for a team? i would rather have my team just practice, i understand that you schedule cupcake opponents to work on things but they dont have to be that horrendous of cupcakes, and you can at least throw a few decent teams in the nonconference schedule.

and as for wisconsin's nonconference schedule,
uwgb and uwm-usually pretty good teams and plus they're in the state so its a good rivalry thing
deleware st.-was in the tourney last year
southern-also in the tourney last year
missouri st.-NIT team, actually beat the supposed "powerhouse" stanford in the NIT by 10
florida st.-acc team
florida international-cupcake
winthrop-tourney team beat marquette last year, only lost to memphis by 10 and almost beat tennessee in the tournament
Pacific-tourney team and went into 2OT with boston college
gardner webb-cupcake
then they also have marquette and pitt and will prolly play another decent team in their preseason tournament

Alando, the problem I have with your posts is the fact that everything is motiviated by hate for Marquette and not by legitimate knowledge of college basketball. OK, marquee games put people in seats, duh. However, that plays little part in what goes into putting together a non-conference schedule. We have a premier home game against Wisconsin, the rest of the games are needed to get this team together and gel. If all coaches cared about was putting people in seats, how would lower tier D1 teams ever get games??? Coaches have to schedule cupcakes in order to fine tune their squad, and to give them confidence. Big teams dont like to go on the road for non-conference games, especially if they are playing in tournaments where they have to travel, and if they have such a gauntlet in their conference schedule.

What I find funny is the fact that you, the obvious UW supporter, is bashing Marquette for doing the EXACT same thing that UW football does.

Once again what it comes down to is the fact that you hate Marquette, and your going to find the smallest things to critisize them about. Why dont you try going to a Florida Gators message board and critisize their non-conf. schedule, see how that works out....

um, yeah, uw basketball and pretty much every team out there in every sport does this for the reasons u listed above-gel, fine tune, confidence
