F***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the other hand, maybe we can get the Rays Zduriencik type guy. They seem to do well in that regard.
Only April, and I'm looking forward to Badger Football. Depressing!

Eh, Jack Z did an incredible job here, but its not size 6 type upsetting.

Im sure we will be able to promote someone that has learned a few thing from him.

I'm with you Diener, though the guy was good, the sun will probably come up tomorrow!!

and if nothing else...having a ton of top picks this year...like 6 in the top 35 again...the new guy will have to hit on at least 1 good prospect...right?

My concern isn't necessarily just that Zduriencik left, but rather, that the Brewers amateur scouting department has been losing scouts to other organizations the past few years. I worry that at some point that starts to show.

Actually, I believe it is worth Type 6 typeset for this reason. Melvin and Company basically let Jack Z make these decisions on his own. Granted, Melvin pulled the trigger, it was based on what Jack Z told them. So now we're relying on Melvin probably to make these decisions. And he has been so good in the free-agent and trade market pickups that you'd trust Melvin with discovering talent? The first thing Doug looks for is if the guy ever played in Texas. That's how he grades players. I am not confident in Doug's ability to scout and choose talent in the draft. Sorry, but it is a 6 typeset kind of comment for me. We might have a ton of draftpicks, 6, in the first round, but they better hit on 3 of those and not just come out shotting blanks. It's not like finding talent in the late rounds, it's hitting on the top 50 prospects in the draft. Anyone can do that, right? I am talking about finding those gems in the later rounds.

I will say this though...I don't think that Jack Z was the one who did all of the scouting...unless he takes his whole staff with him (which would really suck) there should be some decent talent left behind that Jack taught a few things to

If you actually analyze his drafts ... I think he's good but not irreplaceable. Doesn't Gord Ash play a big role in the draft and scouting process as well? With however many scouts under his wing isn't there one of those guys that is ready to step in? Don't get me wrong ... I wish he wouldn't have left and am not a Melvin fan so I would have been happy as a clam had he somehow moved up the ladder here; I'm just not going to bemoan the loss. He's been around long enough and must have taught something to someone. Also realize the scouts do the grunt work and put players in front of Jack to finish the evaluation on. Some of those guys must be good too.

He's had some very good picks
Braun, LaPorta, Gamel, Fielder, Yovanni, Hardy ... then Hart (11th) and Parra (26th). Also signed Escobar

He also picked Dave Krynzel, Mike Jones, Mark Rogers, and Rickie Weeks in the 1st round. The jury is still out on Jeffress who left a game with shoulder fatigue last night. He's pulled about a major leaguer out of every draft.
At the same time if you're drafting in the Top 10 ... you're odds of getting studs rises.

We'll be alright ... although maybe they should ask Dean Taylor who to hire since he was responsible for Jack Z.
