WOW!

Here we go.
11 consecutive wins gives the Brewers home field advantage.

Lots of questions going in.
Roster, pitching etc.

I honestly believe the Brewers can win this series.

Whatchya think?

Getting a win against Kershaw will be the key to setting the tone for the series.  Our bats>Dodgers.  I like us in 6 games.

Beating Kershaw in one of his starts will give the Brewers a great chance. I wonder if the bullpen guys are getting worn down though? While we all concentrate on beating Kershaw, it will probably mean other Dodger pitchers will give the Brewers fits. Gotta get some production out of Cain and Aguilar - 2 for 23 combined with 3 walks so far in the playoffs.  I would love to see Saladino given the spot Schoop is taking up. Schoop is 0 for 6 in the post season, BUT he has that great power and tremendous leadershipl

I'll be at the game on Friday.

It will be good to punch the Dodgers in the mouth in Game 1.

Heard it put this way today, Brewers need to go 8-6 the rest of the way to be WS Champs.  Doesn't sound too bad.

Will the rotation be Chacin, Miley, then a mix of 'relievers' for game 3?   Anyone seeing another true starter, starting a game besides Chacin and Miley?   There are certainly guys Counsel could go to, but wondering if he will. Cedeno? - he has never been a starter, but would he be the first guy if Counsel pitched 'by committee' for game 3, followed by Woodruff, Burnes, Hader and Jeffress?  I dont see Anderson, Davies or Guerra getting a start. Dont know much about Gonzalez, but his 5 starts for the Brewers went pretty well. Perhaps he gets the ball to start game #3.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Counsell go with Woodruff for a start. He only gave up 1 run in the month of September, albeit out of the bullpen. You are going to at least need another starter. Chacin, Miley. Maybe a Chase Anderson in Game 3 in the pitcher friendly stadium in Los Angeles.

If it was me, I'd go:

Game 1: Chacin
Game 2: Bullpen day, then day of rest

Game 3: Miley
Game 4: Anderson
Game 5: Chacin

Game 6 & Game 7 everyone

Chacin is going in Game 1 we know that.  It will either be the bullpen day in Game 2 or Miley - and then Game 3 will be whatever doesn't happen in Game 2.  Game 4 - Counsell has to go back to Chacin.

Another alternative is Chacin in Game 1 - Miley in Game 2 - and because he has had some success against the Dodgers - Gio Gonzalez could go in Game 3.  I don't see Counsell giving Anderson or Davies a start due to the fact neither has pitched in weeks.

It will be interesting to see if there is any changes to the roster from the last series.  It would make sense to add Cedeno or Jennings with all of the lefty bats the Dodgers have.  My preference would be Cedeno.  I think Counsell will keep both Santana and Broxton on the bench.

I have no problem, in fact, I would welcome Gio Gonzalez as the starter in game 3.

As you state, Doc, he pitched well in his 5 starts.  He's a veteran.  I trust him.

The Brewers have announced their rotation games 1-3.  I'm kind of surprised how they set it up, but I will not question Stearns & Counsell....

Game 1: Gio Gonzalez vs Clayton Kershaw
Game 2: Wade Miley vs Hyun-Jin Ryu
Game 3: Jhoulys Chacin vs Walker Buehler

Prediction
Heart: Brewers in 7
Head: Dodgers in 6

I just feel like the Dodgers starting pitching will be hard to handle in a seven game series, you're looking at Kershaw and Buelher twice if it goes seven.  I have felt all year that the Dodgers are the most complete team in the National League top to bottom...Hope I'm wrong.

Brewers trying to neutralize the left handed power of the Dodgers in Miller Park. At least that what it looks like though obviously the bullpen will try and play a big part of every game

Just a few hours till rosters are due.
Any surprises?

The 3 starters are sort of picked.
Gio, Wade, Jhoulys.

Bullpen
Woodruff, Burnes, Soria, Cedeno, Knebble, Hader, Jeffress

Yelich, Cain, Braun, Granderson & Broxton.
Aguillar, Shaw, Arcia, Moustakas, Perez.
Kratz, Pina.

Who else?
Schoop, Santana & Peralta/Guerra/Jennings?

With the left handed starters the Dodgers have (Rich Hill in game 4?), I'd expect Schoop to be on the roster and to play significantly more than he did against the Rockies. Does Santana get left off in favor of another starter or reliever?

Santana can hit. Broxton can't. I'd keep Santana, remove Broxton, and add Cedeno.

Unfortunately, Santana has hit only .173 against left-handed pitchers this year. Broxton is even worse:  .115
I like the defense and speed Broxton gives the team over the bit more hitting Santana 'may' provide. The team will also
have other right handed batters that can come off the bench.  Perez and Schoop will both be on the roster.  The way Kratz has
been hitting he might be my #1 guy to pinch hit when a right handed hitter is needed. Tough to do with only 2 catchers though.

I would keep Santana, Schoop and Jennings. Neither Peralta nor Guerra are needed.  I doubt the Brewers have any plans to start any true starters other than Chacin, Miley and Gio. I dont see this series going past 5-6 games eithers(Dodgers).
