Football is now officially behind us since every team from the FRCC is out - but the good news is that open gym begins for baseball! What are your thoughts on how the teams will play out this season?

Lots of new blood in the district, as usual. Will we see the same schools out in front - or will there be some sleepers? The fruit of some new coaches a few years ago should now begin to pay off...

Southwest is looking very strong, but so are others! It should be an exciting year.

Anyone up for discussion?

It will be interesting for sure to see how the conference plays out. I mentioned in the BBall thread that I wish that WDP was a member of the FRCC. It makes no sense to me why they are not.

I know that there will be big returns as far as veterans for DP and BP - I also know that SW has some power coming up. It is always great to see how the young guys clawing their way up can step up to contribute. Pitching is always a big factor. SW, ND have some big shoes to fill there.

I do believe that GB East will be very interesting since the coach has now fostered some of the talent that he brought up. Again - pitching, pitching, pitching!

Idk why WDP does not play in the FRCC.

Because in most other sports besides baseball and football they wouldn't compete.

The argument that West DePere can not compete in the FRCC conference simply does not hold water. Not only in football and baseball but cross country, track, softball as well - and that is a whole lot better than several other schools in the conference. Plus, you simply have great rivalries within this area which draws crowds which helps all of the schools athletic programs. Not only that, but the growth of the WDP dostrict alone is certainly going to grow their athletic competitiveness.

West De Pere shouldn't be in the conference because they more than likely wouldn't want to be. They would go from being a middle of the pack school enrollment-wise in the Bay to the second smallest school in a larger conference in the FRCC.

When the re-alignment was being worked out, there were suggestions of creating a conference, or moving the Sheboygan schools in to a conference with a school like Plymouth. But Plymouth was completely against it because they would go from being the biggest school in their conference now to the smallest.

Also, don't complain that North and South are so far away, the schools in the Green Bay area have to drive down to Sheboygan twice a season, while South and North make many more trips up to Green Bay.
