Yeah, this was probably the biggest week in terms of change since I started doing this.

Also, since the season has started my "watch list" has shrunk by about 45 teams across the four categories.

A couple streaks I'm keeping an eye on:

-Both of the longest conference losing streaks could fall at some point this year. Barron has a matchup with struggling Cameron in a few weeks, and Richland Center came super close this last week against Dodgeville, and still has a shot against Viroqua towards the end of the year.

-Milwaukee North plays Milwaukee Madison this week. Madison has been beat pretty badly their first three games, and this is as good a shot as any for North to get that first on-field conference victory since 2009.

-Melrose-Mindoro's Dairyland streak could be in jeopardy as they've already had a few tight ballgames.

Post-Week 5 Notes:

-Melrose-Mindoro suffered its first Dairyland Conference loss after 23 victories, falling to Augusta, 8-6.

-Milwaukee North put a running clock on Milwaukee Madison, 40-0, ending a 16-game overall and a 12-game conference losing streak. It was their first on-field victory since 10/10/205 and first on-field conference win since 10/10/2009.

-Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca fell to Ithaca, 24-14, muting a 14-game Ridge & Valley winning streak.

-Portage defeated Beaver Dam, 27-14, gaining their first Badger-North win after 14 defeats.

-After just missing out the previous two weeks, Delavan-Darien upended Union Grove, 22-21, stopping a 14-game Southern Lakes skid.

-Racine Park left the conference losing streaks list as soon as they got on it, overtaking Kenosha Tremper 32-14.

-Joining us are Barron (Overall Losing), Kimberly (Conference Winning), Flambeau and Waukesha South (Conference Losing).

No one can question Coach Harrell's dedication to his alma mater there at North Division. I saw them two weeks ago and thought they were running some better stuff offensively. Unfortunately the biggest problem is keeping the kids up when things start going south. The scoreline against Obama was not indicative of any talent differences between each team, I can tell you that.

Per a tweet from Travis Houslet of the Portage Daily Register, Westfield has cancelled the rest of its season due to injuries and low numbers. So might as well go ahead and add 4 more losses to their overall & conference losing streaks.

Post-Week 6 Notes:

-Barron benefited from the addition of Cameron to the Heart O’ North, taking advantage of the struggling Comets, 41-0, to break the state’s longest conference losing streak at 40 games. It also broke a 12-game overall losing streak.

-St. Mary Catholic has moved over to 8-Man and it paid off as they snapped a 24-game overall losing streak with a 34-14 win over Williams Bay.

-Racine St. Catherine’s watched a 22-0 lead slip away and with it went their 22-game conference and 19-game overall winning streaks, in a 30-22 OT loss against Racine Lutheran.

-Homestead waited out the rain, but Hartford wasn’t gonna wait out the continuation of Homestead’s 19-game overall and 18-game conference winning streak as the Orioles got the 21-18 victory sometime around midnight Saturday.

-Waterloo went out of conference and outlasted Palmyra-Eagle, 42-41, to break a 16-game overall losing streak.

-Joining the list are Cameron (conference losing), Fort Atkinson (conference losing), Franklin (conference winning), Kiel (conference winning), Mineral Point (conference winning), North Crawford (overall losing), St. Thomas More (conference losing), Sturgeon Bay (overall losing) and West Allis Central (overall losing).

Doing an offshoot here and doing a playoff drought list here.

Some droughts have been broken so far this year (Appleton East, Aquinas Et. al) as a few programs are having resurgent years so far. Here is some of the longest playoff droughts among teams here in WI.

(Min: 10 years between playoff appearances)

Note: For co-ops I am counting who is the controlling school (aka the first school listed in the co-op) as the last postseason appearance so I.E. Evansville by itself hasn't made the postseason since 2012 but last made it in 2017 while co-oped with Albany with the Blue Devils as the controlling school so I am counting that as their last playoff appearance.

Note 2: Program must be active to be included.

1. Nicolet 29 (1989)
2. Green Bay West 22 (1996)
3. Racine Case 21 (1997)
T-4. Eau Claire North 20 (1998)
T-4. Oconto Falls 20 (1998)
T-6. Beloit Memorial 19 (1999)
T-6. Waukesha South 19 (1999)
8. Parkview 16 (2002)
T-9. West Allis Central 14 (2004)
T-9. Augusta 14 (2004)
T-9. Viroqua 14 (2004)
T-12. Cadott 13 (2005)
T-12. Watertown Luther Prep 13 (2005)
T-14. Sheboygan North 12 (2006)
T-14. Waukesha North 12 (2006)
T-16. Green Bay East 11 (2007)
T-16. Weyauwega-Fremont 11 (2007)
T-16. Wauwatosa East 11 (2007)
T-16. Waupun 11 (2007)
T-16. Portage 11 (2007)
T-16. Richland Center 11 (2007)
T-16. Sauk Prairie 11 (2007)
T-23. West Allis Hale 10 (2009)
T-23. Milwaukee South 10 (2009)*

*: Milwaukee South actually clinched a playoff spot but declined due to low numbers.

Same with HOPE Christian (and I believe Weston as a standalone).

I actually took all the playoff data the WIAA has in PDF form on their site and put it into a spreadsheet.

Not sure what your methods of tracking are, but the sorting and filtering makes it easier for sure. I can send it to you, amped0808 if you want.

You can send them if you want.

I am excluding teams that have never made it. Like I said before I am counting teams that are active (IE controlling school in a co-op, or actually still playing that are stand alone) as a football program.

Weston has made it quite a few times. It is Wonewoc that never made it as a standalone program.
