Lomira varsity football coach Shawn Schraufnagel steps down, saying he lacked support from the administration, among other reasons. This comes after the Lions canceled their varsity season because they did not have enough players to field a team.[link=http://www.fdlreporter.com/article/20081022/FON020501/810220820/1319/FON02]

how can a coach rip their boss in the paper and still work at the school? if i did that at my job i would be out the door when the paper hit the news stand.

according to matt leinert, the resignation wasn't forced, he was well respected, and the players and coaching staff didn't want him to leave. then why would he resign? there must have been more to it than what was in the fdl repeater.

Fact is, you didn't see this coming. The resignation was not forced.....he decided to resign due to the principal's failure to follow policy established by the school. Unfortunately, this happens all to often in schools. The stories you've heard from former athletes are probably from disgruntled ones as well as "towny" gossip from people who have no clue what their talking about. If you would ask his coaching colleagues, current players and former players, you'd probably find that he was well respected and very knowledgeable. I know of several conference coaches that spoke very highly of him and could see some good changes. I know that he coached at Campbellsport a few years back as well. I know for a fact that the coaching staff didn't want him to leave nor did the players. They respect the heck out of Schraufnagel.

From my point of view this was pretty lame on Schraufnagel's part. He was never reprimanded, the administration wasn't angry with him, and there was no hint of a munity within the team.

So what's his problem? Just because a principal woouldn't tell him about "confidential conversations." First of all she was told by the parents that they had talked to the coach so what is she supposed th think. Second, where has this guy worked that when someone complains about your work or what you're doing you find out who it was. In my years of work, that has never happened. So this coach should have gotten over his little obsession with defending himself and realized that until he gets in trouble the complaining doesn't mean anything.

first of all, I did see this coming I just didn't think he would resign himself...second of all, I think that schraufnagel himself took this to the paper...which IMO is pretty low if that is true!
