I dont know how excited I am about this one. Good record and everything got them to the ALCS once in his four years.
http://chuckcorner.blogspot.com- Please Comment, I finally am starting to work on this on a consistant basis. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I loved how Macha said it isn't the manager's job to be friends with the players, good start to the next two years at least.

Word has it in Jsonline.com blog that Sveum will be back as either 3rd base coach/bench coach....idk about that, I like Sveum a lot but isn't that a tough situation to be in?

That's what I was thinking too, but he must really love it in Milwaukee to come back as a coach, I would like to see him at third base again personally.

Now one thing down, hiring a manager. Now its free agent time and CC bidding to take place.

As I said before, this isn't an exciting hire to me but hopefully it works. I really wanted Brenly. Perhaps Brenly pulled out or wasn't 100% committed. But if he was ready and willing and we turned him down than I'd be disappointed.

I read in a couple places that Brenly had a terrible interview and that he wasn't sure if he was 100% committed anyway. (I'll look it up later)

1 big thing to watch here is that Jason Kendall and Macha are not on good terms they had a real big falling out in Oakland. Actually according to some sources, Macha had problems with many players and management in his time with the A's.

He sounds like the Anti Ned Yost Player wise, but the same Ned Yost Press Conference wise.

If people hated the way Yost was a prick in pressers, I don't know if they will like Macha all that much more.

To me, it doesn't matter. I wanted Sveum. But now we finally have a manager with experience before coming to the brewers. Its a crapshoot anyway. There is no way to predict how a manager will work with a team. History, W/L, attitude, willingness, all factor into these things, and not all stay the same with multiple teams.

Terry Francona for example had 4 very mediocre seasons in Philly before he won the Red Sox 2 titles.

I actually like that move.

A LOT.

Maybe it'll lead to a more patient strategy, and not let guys swing at everything that's in the same zip code.

Combine that with Macha's willingness to bench someone who gets in a slump, and I like it a TON.

I hate that move. I think the Brewers needed an established guy to get these guys in line, not an enabler again (plus one that's never done it at anything close to a major league level). Sveum showed in his time as manager what he could do. Lead Cameron off in the middle of a horrendous slump. That right there says a ton to me. I hate the move and honestly expect no changes in approaches from the guys that need it.
