I hope everyone had a great Christmas break. Everyone should be heading back to school soon unless your in college and then you have another two weeks off. [:-]

Games coming up tonight and the rest of the week for the Boys include

Tonight:

Lancaster @ Barneveld
Warren @ Argyle
Black Hawk @ Cassville
Monticello @ Belmont
Cambridge @ Albany
Weston @ Pec

Thursday:

Juda @ Argyle
Monticello @ Albany
Pec @ Black Hawk

Saturday:

Barneveld @ Cassville

My predicted picks are in bold. A couple picks I am not 100% sold on are the two Barneveld games because Cassville is a solid team and Lancaster is a big team that will give Barneveld all they can handle. Also, Pec @ Black Hawk, I am not sold on either. Black Hawk is a tough place to play and I just have a feeling this one could be real close.

A girls score from Tuesday

Juda 59
Belmont 50

As reported earlier, Barneveld beat Pec 49-36. Barneveld jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and controlled the second. They came out flat in the 3rd quarter and Pec took advantage. Pec cut the lead to 36-34 with about 5 minutes to go. But then Barneveld got Chandler fouled out and the lead grew from there.

Also, I wanna give props to Coach Myers for knocking down that near half court, one handed shot before the game, and to the John Sadderly and Coach Mortimer look-a-likes. That was worth a good laugh [rotfl]

From 1/12

Barneveld 42
Pec 37

Barneveld was down 3 with about 3 minutes to play in this game and pulled it out at the end. They had trouble finishing. Actually, they have had trouble finishing the two games prior to this, but dominated those ones as well. This game had a lot of emotion involved with the players being good friends and with the coaches obviously. For instance, it was a love fest at half court before the game as the seniors from Barneveld and Pec met as the Meudt twins used to attend Barneveld and Jeglum is a good friend of the Barneveld seniors.

On another note, it was interesting to see UW football recruit Jake Irwin at the game leading the Barneveld student section...

I'm wondering where everyone went on this board. When I come on here there are plenty of guests, meaning people are reading everything, which is basically me talking to myself, but no one is posting...

Boys

Black Hawk 13 25 36 43

BH won it after Albany got a rebound & Schliem snatched it away from Hulbert under BH basket, and made it as the buzzer went off. Close game throughout. I don't believe either team led by more than 4-6 points. Free Throws def. hurt Albany the most. Should be another good game when Albany travels to BH.

Ritschard was on fire from the get go. I believe he had 3 3's in the first quarter alone & like 13ish points in the first. I believe he had 6 3's on the night with 24+ points. Monticello prolly had bout 10-12 three pointers. They were draining them like it was as easy as pie. Ritschards def. is in the running for POY. Albany was without Senior Center Bryce Hulbert whose was out with the flu. Detra had another great game. Kuebli stepped off the bench giving Coach Doescher some valuable minutes.

Monticello played great team basketball throught the whole game. Ritschard came out with the hot hand had 18 first quater points. Monticello was still kind of sloppy on D the werent as sharp as what they have been. Marty had 10 points and Meier had 16 with Ritschard leading all with 26 and Albany still played well without hulbert they looked to push the ball alot more with out him there. Detra had 15 i think also overall monticello came out hot on the offensive side and just put it away with good team play.

Detra finished with 20.

But this game was all about Monticello's hot shooting. From the start, everything was falling, especially from Ritschard. 18 points, including four 3s... Yikes. 26 in the game and he pretty much didn't need to play in the 3rd and 4th. Not going to lie, but if this was a tight ball game, he may have gone off for 40.

Ritschard was unstoppable. He sat out half of the second quarter after picking up his second foul. While his offense is great, its his defense that continues to impress. He was probably close to double digit boards as well. Anyone that thinks he is not in the conversation for POY, needs to come to a couple more Monticello games this year.

In the 1st both teams had many turnovers. 2nd: BH went on a run to start it. Albany struggled from the FT line. 3rd: Albany came out in the 3rd on fire and got it down to one. 4th: BH went on a bit of a run on 3 3's made. Rygh fouled out w/ 3 mins left in the game. Albany counted mount a comeback.
Shager BH some valuable mins with Rygh in foul trouble. Peach didn't score alot in the game but def. had some good passes, rebounds, & steals. Should be another good game when BH visits Albany.
