Here's the [link=http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/10/16/zduriencik-among-seattle-finalists.aspx]link[/link]. This would be a blow to the Brewers, who could have again either 3 or 5 first round picks again this year.... Melvin should boost his salary to keep him here!

Maybe Antanasio should give him Melvin's job....

I love Melvin...but it would be nice to see JZ stick around...and maybe if he does take Melvins job, I won't be disappointed...I just wonder how good he would be at evaluating older talent as well...

Because Jack is the reason for all the young quality players on this team. Anyone that knows anything about this team knows that Jack Z is the reason they have the talent they have. He is a wonderful man. I'd give it to him over Melvin any day. What has Melvin done, honestly? Did he pull the trigger on the CC trade or did Attanassio? Melvin is a good GM, but Jack Z should have been getting all this credit.

I agree that I don't think Melvin is a BAD GM, but I think our farm system credit belongs to Z. I'm not sure I necessarily like the type of offense Melvin builds because it tends to be streaky, good and bad. I would like a more balanced lineup between power and speed/average. But we did make the playoffs again finally and the franchise is in much better shape than when he got here. Just sayin' you gotta love Z and it would be a huge blow to lose him. But being a GM is a different gig too, so who knows.

I didn't realize he was in the mix for the Pirates GM job last off season and was passed over. Hopefully he'll stay with us, but if he gets offered, c ya
