I'm sure it was a long time ago and I just totally missed it, but when did Marquis commit to the Badgers? I apologize if this is rehashing really old news.

Badgers add two to 2010 class By of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Jun. 23, 2009
The University of Wisconsin has received two more commitments for the 2010 class to bring its number of known commitments to five.
Frank Tamakloe, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound safety from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Md., is the first defensive back in the class. A good athlete with 4.45-second speed in the 40-yard dash, he chose the Badgers over Northwestern and Maryland.
Waunakee's Jake Irwin also committed. Irwin (6-4, 255) will be a three-year starter at right tackle for the Warriors next season, but UW will look at him first at defensive end, Waunakee coach Pat Rice said.
Previously, Wisconsin received commitments from D.C. Everest linebacker Konrad Zagzebski, Madison East receiver Marquis Mason and Brookfield Central defensive end Bryce Gilbert.

Wow that was a while ago. Thanks! Wonder if he will play hoops too. Thats good to hear. He seems like a pretty good kid from my dealings with him.....except for when he's dunking on us, then I don't like him much. []

Don't feel bad dude. I'm only hearing this for the first time myself. Um, who is this guy? Is he any good or are we wasting scholarships on him like we did with T.J. Williams?

Two words: athletic freak.

I'm not big on the Badgers, but this kid has the potential to be one hell of a football player at UW.

He is a legit 6'4 kid from Racine.. hopefully the next Travis Beckum. Also a D1 college basketball prospect.

It's also still early in T.J. William's college career, so don't call him a waste of a scholarship just yet. He's a good kid who should at least contribute on special teams during his time at UW.

Not sure if you're referring to Mason here, but Mason is a 6'5'' receiver from Madison East.

My apologies Mr. Corso. It's just that I thought if a kid was being given a scholarship to play football before his freshman year (even if it's primarily just because he's fast) that he would actually produce on the field. But maybe he'll be the next John Clay and start kicking tush his next season. But hopefully this Mason dude turns out to be a good receiver because we can't just only rely on David Gilreath to be our only receiver.

well when you have 87 full scholarships to dish out, a good chunk of them will be wasted

The vast majority of freshmen at any team redshirt their first year. I believe only 8 of the roughly 25 freshmen the Badgers brought in last year actually played.

And Gilreath won't even be the #1 receiver, Toon will. In fact, Isaac Anderson could pass up Gilreath as the #2 as well.
