Ah yes 4th of July. The day when we celebrate the day that many men died in a heroic battle so that this country could be free. Thank you men of the past. Because of you we are free to post here on this awesome sports site. Hope everyone had a great 4th. Even you BB21.

The 4th of July celebrates the debate and approval of the final draft of the Declaration of Independence (although the US was legally separated on July 2 when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence) on July 4, 1776. Although most delegates signed the Declaration later on, July 4 is generally accepted as the "date of Independence". The Fourth of July does not celebrate any significant military battle.

Some of the above posts triggered a response for me again on this thread. Hope everyone had a fun & safe 4th of July. No one had family members that got their finger's burned playing with fireworks ha ha.

Wanted to congratulate Road Kill on the engagement. Now your 4th will always have a certain memory/meaning. Which for me triggers....

It's funny how dates will always trigger certain memories or make you associate with events. Beside the fireworks, I'll always associate the 4th of July now with Steve McNair's death. Here's what's also "weird" what I'd associate the 4th with:

* Growing up a Tiger's fan, remembering Ron LeFlore's lead off single in the 1976 All-Star game. Game was played on our Nation's 200th Birthday. The AL lost most of those games those years. Some years prior, LeFlore was in prison for armed robbery, and was scouted by Tigers manager Billy Martin (known mainly for the Yankees).

A 4th of July historical event:

* Custard getting routed at the Battle of Little Big Horn on our Nation's 100th Birthday. (No I wasn't there, [:-] I just associate it with the 4th of July). Actually, research on the battlefield proved there was "No heroric stand."

I enjoy each 4th for various reasons but for me it is truly a day in which I get to celebrate the birth of my daughter! Each firework show she claims they are hers! Hope everyone had a safe enjoyable day!

Well, my 4th of July was pretty interesting.

At my age, I might add, there was no getting away with a ring from the mall!![]

YIKES!!

I am poor again, but I have been blessed with the second good woman in my life!!

The GF's birthday is on the 4th as well!

Shared memories of days of yore with some old buddies!

May have launched some pyro-technics, it may have been 2 other boys that looked just like us!!

And may have swapped a ton of lies with the old timers around the table!!

Peace,
r/k

(I posted this under Coach 40's post, I figured he'd get a kick out of it!)

Did this part:

"I also had some wonderful roast pig and some delicious adult beverage."
Lead to this part:
"I got engaged!"

Just kidding!

Congratulations on the engagement!

The 3 (out of 9) of my roommates that were still here and I partook in over a dozen games of beer pong and watched the Twilight Zone marathon on Sci Fi.

Congrats RK!

Spent the entire day driving through four states down I-35. But at least I made it with no problems. I did see a few sky bursts Friday night in Missouri. Not really the most exciting 4th I've ever had.

Way to go R/K! Best of luck.
Without officials, it would just be recess!

4th of July was fun for me.

Grilled, drank, played bags until around 9. Went to the fireworks in Shorewood Hills (neighborhood in Madison). Then, my buddy had a couple kegs for his birthday/for the 4th. Finished the shitshow off with a couple buddies and I going to Toppers and getting a Taco pizza, which was tasty as hell.

You cheeky bugger! Way to tell us beforehand, haha.

How'd you do it? Anything special?

You are not smarter than your favorite team's upper management, so stop trying to be.
