It's conference championship time all around the state and here in the heart of Wisconsin it's Cloverbelt Conference Girls championship saturday !

We have, Regis v. Neillsville in the 2nd place game.
Also, in the championship game is Fall Creek v. Loyal.

It should be noted that we do usually see a team or two from the Cloverbelt at state each year so this should be a good test for all teams involved.

It seems a little foreign to not have Regis or Neillsville in the championship game...lol.

It was definitely a playoff atmosphere at the Neillsville gym for the Crossover championship between D5 Loyal and D4 Fall Creek. Loyal brought a large and vocal crowd.
But the Crickets were chirping early and jumped out to a 21-8 lead. The Loyal girls were frazzled and frustrated and to the surprise of many were about to be left for dead in what appeared to be a mismatch. Then they took off.........like a greyhound chasing a rabbit.........on a 19-3 run to grab a 27-24 lead. But it was not to be. Foul trouble kept Loyal's Karsyn Rueth on the bench for much of the 3rd quarter and it cost them in the end. The Crickets's center Tatum Mayenschein scored her 1000th point on the way to a lead they would never relinquish.

This was a much better effort on the part of Loyal than the 22 point win over Owen-Withee the other night. Just a lot more aggressive and attacking. Hanging with a team that gave Cuba City all they could handle last week proves they can play with the top teams when given the opportunity. Was especially impressed with the guard play of Loyal's Devyn Schoonover and Morgan Reinwand who can "move it" when they have to and deliver some solid drives despite their lack of heighth. Quick hands on the defensive end by both also contributed greatly to keeping this one close.

Fall Creek 53
Loyal 47
