Is the playoff field itself being released earlier than the brackets? If I remember correctly, usually which teams are in and in which division are realeased sometime overnight tonight, correct? Can someone help me with this one, and if you know, about what time is that usually released?

I haven't heard differently, so I would assume the WIAA will publish the Field & Divisions tonight. In the past it has been sometime between 11:00p.m.-12:30a.m.

EDIT: Field is meant to be the 224 Playoff Participants not the Field at which the games will be played. Sorry for any confusion.

Just a comment, on the field and divisions. It has been my understanding that fields are only released for those who are Level 1 qualified hosts. For example, my guess is that Pec will play Mineral Point in game 1. Neither is an approved site listing. So when the brackets are compelte, at whatever time it is tonight, they will have the matchup only. Then tomorrow morning a member of the WIAA will contact the seeded school and then the unseeded school to find a location that can host the game. Monroe perhaps.

I always thought the priority was on brackets and then calls made in the morning to line up fields (8:00 a.m.).

just guessing here because i wasnt the one that asked the question, but i think they meant to ask: when will the wiaa release the list of teams that have officially qualified for the playoffs. it usually is earlier than the actual brackets if i remember correctly.

Yes when I said playoff "field" I meant which teams have qualified for the playoffs and not where games would be played.

Thanks for the quick answer.

I would assume (and that is dangerous to do) that the WIAA will release the list of qualifiers and divisions the same as the brackets, to the media. Again, that would cut down on overloading and crashing the WIAA site. The other option would be to post it on the School Center Site which has limited access by username and password.
Without officials, it would just be recess!

Longball, I know they came out is Sept WIAA bulliten with the willing/qualified teams to host a playoff game. But I think in the WIAA rules reguarding sites, don't they say any team can host a level one game if neither site is on the list and they meet the requirements???

You need to read through some thread sfo rthat answer. The WIAA doesn't want their site crashing so they are releasing it to media outlets, I am guessing, in the next 3 hours here. Schools should be getting calls in about 2 hours as to who they play. But read back through the threads and you will see the answer to tyour question.
