49ers have 1st and Goal at the one yard line with :21 left, trailing by 5. Spike, Gore loses a yard, Spike, Gore stuffed.

Uh-oh.

I undestand Hill is an inexperienced QB but for the life of me I couldn't figure out why he took 10 seconds to move the RB from the right to the left when he was going to spike the ball anyway.

I can't believe they didn't spike it on 3rd down with 4 seconds left. They could have spiked it, had 2 seconds for a 4th down to win the game. Especially with Gore out with an injury from earlier in the drive, they should have lobbed one up to Jason Hill or had Hill roll out to scramble with it or toss one in the back of the endzone. You have some big receivers in Hill and Vernon Davis, use them!

Lol, I like when coaches try to validate plays like that by saying "We want to be a physical team" or we need to pound the ball.....

Uh Coach, when you have no talent and are not a physical team, you need to do what you can, not what you want. The 49'ers passed the ball all the way inside the 10 yard line, and what do they do?

1) They waste 25 seconds on a Spike
2) Hand it off 2 times and totally throw out 4th down by running a FB dive on the last play of the game.

Throw the ball Singletary, its not the old days when power Running always beats power defense. Do what got you down the field.

Why is there like 3 or 4 posts on here saying Singletary should have called this and that on offense.... he's not the offensive coordinator, Mike Martz is..... so the real question is why in all hell would mr. pass happy Mike Martz not throw the ball when you had 2 1/2 yards to go for a TD?!?!

You are correct, however in that situation, I would think any great coach would have a HEAVY influence on the play calling with less than a minute, no timeouts and chaos going on.

True, I just can't believe Martz would do something like that.... But a full back dive from the 2 1/2 yard line is the best play you can come up with when the game is on the line and you need a TD.... WOW

Martz blames the loss on the [link=http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3696990]spot of the ball[/link], not the play calling. HAHHAHAH

mike singletary can blow up at himself, it was his own fault. what terrible clock management. you get the ball first and goal at the 2 with 41 seconds left and you essentially waste 2 downs because you run out of time. that's just terrible.

Agreed. That was horrible play calling there. Even after they got the first spike with 20 seconds left, if they pass instead of run they still give themselves three plays to win the game. By running it you essentially, limited your chances to two. I understand he wants to play smash mouth football, but there is a time and a place to make that statement and I don't think that was the time or place since you limited your chances to win the game. Plus the last time was some backup that they plunged in there instead of Gore. I would be ticked if I'm the players in that situation. He did not give them the best chance to win.
