Indiana Coach Tom Crean made the announcement Monday that former Germantown prep star and current 7-ft. Hoosier freshman center Luke Fischer is leaving the school after one semester on the team. Fischer's destination was not announced.

Not on a thread of its own or on the NCAA general discussion basketball thread ..... no, it broke on the Badger Basketball thread .... exactly where I would've looked to see if there was anything on here re Fischer, before starting a new thread ...... I was too lazy to start a thread. Apparently it has become too much work for me []

with Tom Crean as the coach at Indiana and the track record he has, I never expected Fisher to make it 3 years there. Didn't expect it this early though.

Luke just tweeted he won't be considering any Big 10 schools, out of respect to IU. Some of the schools that Mark Miller says are in the mix don't quite mesh with the homesickness explanation, but we'll see.

Tom Crean is one of the toughest coaches in America to play for .... if you survive four years of him, you love him - Dwayne Wade is a perfect example - but there are others who are unwilling to endure his schtick. Hard to blame them either!

Except the fact that Wade wasn't there four years.

Per Big Ten rules, Fischer would have had to not be on scholarship for one year if he transferred to UW (or any other Big Ten school) wouldn't he?

He's on my list every year!

Posted this in the Marquette thread as well: Luke Fischer will be transferring to Marquette. Really great pick up for them, and a good fit for the kid as well I think. Definitely a better situation than Indiana. Good luck to Fischer personally, but not Marquette in general obviously

So Fisher goes from one program/coach with a history of players not making it their full time to anotehr coach/program with a history of players not making it their full time. does marquette have any schoalarships left or will there be another sudden, convnient transfer?

Well, obviously the plan is that after he gets fed up with Marquette he can then transfer to Wisconsin since Marquette and UW aren't in the same conference.

Luke Fischer becomes eligible to play at Marquette Tuesday, 12/16.

Meanwhile, as I'm watching Indiana take on Louisville in the Jimmy V Classic, tonight on ESPN, I can't help but wonder [h]whether a tanning bed in his office was part of Tommie Crean's deal when he signed on with the Hoosiers [/h]....[huh] [rotfl]
