I understand his decision. What was he going to use his high school diploma for anyways? Why keep him waiting?

So I am just curious. Say it is a flight back from a game next year, or a bus ride, and the guys want to watch a porno. Do they have to get a signature from his dad to ok the movie being shown? How old do you have to be to get into an R rated movie? []

This is dumb and if MLB allows it to happen, then that is a problem. It is making a mochery of the educational system. We need some kind of guidelines. Now I almost hope he falls flat on his face, just to prove how important an education is. My lord, an 18 year old has a hard enough time adjusting to the life. Is this kid going to call his mommy when one of the other players picks on him?

I guess it's about time baseball had its great young player like hockey had Crosby, basketball had LeBron and soccer had Adu (maybe a strech here).

Baseball does;

Ryan Braun!!

I've been hearing questions about how good he will be or if he's the real deal. Well I say his play will do the talking and time will tell if this kid is any good. If he is then may he be the future Brewer that this thread claims he may be. However though if it's money the kid wants then New York will take him before we can because of the fact that we are a small market team (hence why C.C. Sabathia is no longer a Brewer) and New York has all the money in the world.

This type of thing happens all the time in sports like figure skating and gymnastics, those girl's leave traditional schooling options at a much younger age than 16. In gymnastics they are practically past their prime at the age of 16. This is just the first time that something like this has happened in a mainstream sport and has gotten major media attention.

Also, the MLB won't have much to say about it in regards to age, because if Bryce Harper were from the Dominican Republic or Venezuela, Puerto Rico, etc. he would probably already be in someone's minor league system, as those kids leave home to chase the baseball dreams at a very young age.

This kid is playing with Karma here...this is step one to a future..."Where is he now" feature that notes what happened to people who take risks and make the news but then never resurface....

I hope he succeeds, but to me, I can already see where this could lead.
