Wausau West 13 @ Stevens Point 31

Game was tight for nearly three quarters before SPASH pulled away for the win. West drove inside the SP 35 on the first drive of the game before a fumble turned the ball over. Panthers would then drive 69 yards and take a 7-0 lead on a 6 yard TD run by Colton Kizewski.

West would respond with a touchdown drive of their own, with quarterback Chandler Fochs hitting Justin Rager on a 32 yard TD strike with 2:26 left in the first quarter to make it 7-7.

It would stay 7-7 until the final moments of the second quarter. SPASH took advantage of good field position and scored on a 5 yard TD pass from Beau Rosenthal to Jack Helfand with :17 left in the half. SPASH led 14-7 at halftime.

SPASH would take the second half kickoff and drive downfield before stalling inside the Warriors' 10. Joey Dorgan hit a 25 yard FG to extend the Stevens Point lead to 17-7.

Wausau West would take less than a minute to get back within 4 points. Sully Phillips returned the kickoff into SPASH territory at the 44. A couple of plays later, Mitch Michalske found a huge hole on the right side and took it 42 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was blocked and the SPASH lead was 17-13 with 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

SPASH TD's late in the 3rd quarter and early in the 4th put the game away. A 3 yard run by Beau Rosenthal made it 24-13 with 1:53 left in the 3rd quarter. After a defensive stop, SPASH got the ball back early in the 4th and Rosenthal broke into the open and scored on a 53 yard scoring run w/ 10:56 left in the 4th quarter to give the Panthers a 31-13 lead. Unfortunately, as Rosenthal broke the plane of the goal line he injured his left arm and left the game.

Wausau West would then also unfortunately lose their starting quarterback as Chandler Fochs was tackled in the backfield and was helped off the field unable to put any weight on his right leg.
