Looks as though this board has kind of died out over the past few weeks. With football practice coming up real soon here are a couple of questions for anyone who knows "Flyway Football" to chew on.

[ul]Who is the favorite this year? Projected Standings? Who is the potential darkhorse? Who has the best offense/defense? Biggest games of the year? Best players? Best coaches? Returning Players? Best Athletes? POY candidates for offense and defense? Deep Playoff Runs? Non-Conference Foes? Pre-Season Injuries? [/ul]

Just feel free to voice your opinion on anything or any question.

I'll take a stab here:

Favorite(s): Springs / WLA

Standings: Springs, WLA, KML, NFDL, LAC, HOR, MAY, LOM

Darkhorse(s): NFDL and LAC (NFDL because they have good skill position players, but can they protect the QB and stop anyone defensively, LAC with Kinyon at QB should be good, but can they stop people and who will run it / catch it on offense?

Best Offense / Defense: Springs / WLA (neither team loses too many important pieces from
that respective side of the ball and were good last year)

Biggest Games: Springs/WLA, KML/NFDL, LAC/KML, Springs or WLA vs KML, NFDL or LAC

POY offense / defense: Mitch Beau, Anthony Parker, Cody Jackson, Ian Zahn, Dylan Wodsiadelek /

Deep Playoff runs: Springs, WLA

Injuries: Who plays QB in Mayville with Strook out, and what will they accomplish with the weirdness that has recently transpired with their head coaching situation?

Have at it...

It should be another great season for Flyway Football.

My favorites for the conference crown are WLA and SMS.

Both teams return talented senior classes who experienced winning seasons last year. I look forward to watching these two teams battle it out against each other in what could be the biggest game of the year. However, they both will definately have targets on their backs throughout the season.

That being said...I cannot rule out KML or Mayville from contending for the conference title. These dominant programs have rebuilding to do after losing key players to graduation, but they usually have plenty of depth on the roster to replace graduated seniors.

The best thing about Flyway football is that any team can win on any given night. This was evidenced when Laconia surpized a lot people after beating KML at the end of last season. Every team will certainly have to bring their "A Game" against each opponent.

That might seem fairly obvious to some people, but overconfidence can be an Achilles Heel to even the most talented teams.

My final standings are:

SMS, WLA, KML, Mayville, NFDL, Laconia, Horicon, and Lomira

I'm looking foward to the first game week

For news about the conference (later) and Horicon football, I'm told they have updated [link=http://www.marshmen.com/]www.marshmen.com[/link] for the 2009 season. It's a very good website for high school football.

I'll post some predictions in a week or so.
"The runner goes, Hall juices it into left center field.....THE BREWERS WIN...."

"And there's a drive into left field, this is hit well, and IT'S GONE....RYAN BRAUN...A 2-RUN HOME RUN, THE BREWERS TAKE THE LEAD..."
