All this Discussion of the states POY had me thinking.Where did the days go,when the best players rose to the top and made their teammates better???? I thought the true test of a "GREAT" player wasnt what he did by himself but what he and his teammates accompished together. The "GREAT" ones make those around them better.Sure a kid can put up great numbers on a bad team. But what about that kid that puts up great numbers, along with others on his team doing the same. I truely believe the POY should goto the Best player on one of the Best teams. Its harder to put up great numbers when others around you are doing the same. Remember you are only as good as your team is. Football is a team sport and the POY is a team award as much as an Individual award!!!!

I dont think there's really any discussion to be had.

The POY should be the Player of the Year. How much more definition do you need? It shouldn't matter what team he plays for.

Are you thinking we should pick a player from Homestead or Arrowhead, simply because obviously someone on that team is the reason they made state? I would doubt even someone from one of those schools could pick out who their best player is. Sure they have their stars, but that doesn't mean they are the best player in the state. That just means they have a better supporting cast than say John Clay.

What are your feelings if a GREAT player takes a team that may have not won a game without them and leads them to a .500 season. Isn't he doing as much for his team as a kid who leads his team of GREAT players to a state championship. I know it's an argument that will never be won. What really matters is that we do have some really strong players in the state and it is a great debate.
