Kind of surprising, but she must have worked very hard on her game since high school.
Congrats on another D1 player out of the state.

Dana has worked very hard since high school. After her two years at MATC she had many offers. I can honestly say she is a legit D1 player.

Did any of the state scholarship schools offer her? D1 or D2?

I wish her the best and hope she has a nice finish to her career, I just use the D1 tag loosely for some of those small D1's

Why? What do you mean by loosely?

He probably means that even they are D1, the school may only be competitive, say, to a team in the WIAC.

True, she could went to a D2 school like UW-Parkside and and there would be that much of a change in the level of competition and her performance wouldn't be too different either in this case when you compare UNC-Asheville to say a decent D2 or even a good WIAC program.

If you were to watch UNC-Asheville play and then watch say UW-Whitewater, you wouldn't see much difference. UNC-Asheville's gym even has a gym that not exactly that of what you would think D1 school would have. But anyway, congrats to her. She obviously worked hard and earned what she has got and at the end of the day, she got a full ride scholarship and is getting her education paid for.

no doubt. no college debt is a huge plus.

Asheville has a new facility being built and its team is much better than any WIAC .

I don't understand why people are saying there isn't that much of a difference between Asheville and say UW-Whitewater or any of the other WIAC Schools... There is! I don't think people know too much about UNC-Asheville. They are definitely an athletic strong team. In the 06-07 season, they won the Big South Conference and got the opportunity to play LSU in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Congrats to Dana on earning a scholarship to a team with a ton of potential! Best of luck to Dana she must have worked extremely hard to get where she is and its nice to see a hard working player get what she deserves. And by the way yes I read they are building a brand new gym!
