Who does everyone have moving on to round 3?

Shell Lake vs. Turtle Lake: Shell Lake hasn't played the competition that I'm sure they wished they could, but I think they have enough talent to overcome that this year.

McDonell vs. Gilman: Help coach at Gilman so I don't pick their games. An old Small Cloverbelt match-up. Gilman has had troubles lately at the Chippewa field (losing to McDonell and Eleva-Strum there last year). Has to play much more consistent if they want a chance to win against the Macs, who were a battle tested team this year in the Marawood.

Hilbert vs. Almond-Bancroft: Was very disapointed with the the level that Hilbert played at last year compared to the '06 year (did not impress me at all). Will win this game, but will have trouble with the winner of the above 2 games.

Green Lake vs. Suring: Don't have much knowledge of either of these teams, so kind of a guess here.

Plum City vs. Hillsboro: Hillsboro has been haunted by PC in the recent past. This game could go either way, gut feeling with PC

De Soto vs. Ithaca:

Catholic Central vs. Potosi: Close early, then CC's speed will take over.

Benton vs. Shullsburg: I guess records can be deceiving.

Last year I do believe they had a couple of bad apples for seniors on Hilbert, they just couldn't play as team a couple of players were just out for themselves. ?

This years team is a complete 360 in my mind they play as a team they are always pumped up and don't put themselves before the team. ?But you never know on paper Shell Lake looks tough and Hilbert hit a brick wall vs Gilman a couple years back.

Shell Lake should beat Turtle Lake. They crushed them earlier in the year and I would expect the same thing to happen again. I've heard that TL was missing players when they played SL, but I still think that Shell Lake will roll.

Gilman vs McDonell should be a very entertaining game. I really wish we were playing here, but it wasn't meant to be. If Gilman is off in the secondary the Macks will have a field day in this game on offense. Martell is amazing at receiver! I am thinking that McDonell pulls it out setting up a battle with Shell Lake in Level 3.

For the other games...
Suring
Hillsboro(would like to see a Plum City victory here, but I don't see it happening)
De Soto
Hilbert
Catholic Central
Benton/Scales Mound
Always remember the 25th of December(for more then 1 reason)

It's interesting how the brackets came together. Anyway here goes:

Shell Lake is simply a better team than Turtle Lake -- SHELL LAKE
McDonell Central is difficult to pick against for obvious old discussion reasons. Gilman is an excellent team, but -- McDONELL CENTRAL
Hillsboro plays in a conference that simply isn't as tough as Plum City. Besides, Plum City is just plain better -- PLUM CITY
Ithaca and De Soto also plan in a conference that simply isn't what it used to be. So this is almost by default. -- ITHACA
Almond-Bancroft has become a pretty good football school, but Hilbert has been around for a long time and is a better football school -- HILBERT
Green Lake is not as well known in playoff circles, but neither is Suring. Suring was able to upset a pretty good Florence team, but can they do it again? I don't think so. -- GREEN LAKE
Catholic Central is a pretty good football team; again! Can Potosi, who plays in one of the toughest Division 7 conferences in the state, play good enough, long enough? Why not pick at least one underdog? -- POTOSI
Shullsburg has one of the better coaches in the southwest part of the state. Benton has some of the most skilled players in the division. Shullsburg gave them all they wanted earlier this year, but not this time! -- BENTON/SCALES MOUND

I dont recall Plum City playing Hillsboro in the past. I know HIllsboro has lost to Eleva-Strum twice in the recent past (playoffs of 04 and 06). They havent played PC though.

Come again? There aren't many conferences weaker than the South Lakeland. Hillsboro's one loss is to the D6 #3.

The ONLY reason I'll pick PC here is because of the trip Hillsboro has to make (to Ellsworth). They _are_ the better team on paper, BUT...

That may be true. Generally I compare Ridge and Valley and the Scenic Bluffs conferences to the Six Rivers Conference. Neither are even close (especially when the best teams have trouble with the bottom of the Six Rivers). I just assumed that the South Lakeland had to be better.

Yeah, that's nice -- never mind that many people have considered this school one of the top five schools in D7 every year for at least the last 2 or 3, and they've, realistically, accomplished nothing in so doing.

A win tomorrow will change that quite a bit -- not all the way (one more win might do that), but quite a bit.

Maybe they just lost to one of the top four teams every year?
