LAX needs to play in the Terry Porter classic or one of the other Classis' they have down in Milwaukee. Get their season going on the right track early.

I'd say making it to State is on the right track at the right time.  Just because you made it there and lost doesn't make your season unsuccessful.

Or someone could travel to Lax to play also.  Didn't they play in the NY2LA Shootout in Brookfield this year?  And an invitational in Florida also.  It looks like that team put in a lot of miles this year.

maybe. I was just thinging the TP Classis is another way to gain a bit of exposure and the guys get to play some tough comp. IDK what their schedule looks like next year probably already locked in.

Yeah the trip to Florida I think they took the place of Sun Prairie who decided they didn't want this game(s).

The Terry Porter Classic is almost always Milwaukee city schools versus suburban Milwaukee schools. I think that was the whole point of why it started.

I believe Stevens Point played in it. Manitowoc I'm thinking may have as well? But there are a couple of other Classic's but I am sure they are filled up schedule wise, LAX as well.

That's more the Fresh Coast Classic's gimmick.

Off the top of my head, I know LaX Logan when Jorgenson was playing played at the TPC. Roncalli, too. Mundelein with Ben Brust.

I find it ironic that schools complain about travel for conference or in any other sport but when given the chance they demonstrate they are willing to go all over the place to play when they want to. They go to FL, NV, and any number of other not so close places.

Given the number of in season tournaments and invites teams are part of they are pretty much able to find what they want for competition.

across the board I doubt that is the case. some schools are better off than others.

Schools will use any justification they can to get what they want. But ultimately it almost always comes down to winning; if a team thinks their chances of winning improve, then yeah, they're fine with more travel for their conference or sectional. If their chances of winning may go down, then travel is a huge issue and there will be so many deer collisions and we're putting our young children at risk and won't anyone think of the children!

If only Wisconsin had an organization that represented the schools that could address the issues of the win only attitude.

Very hard to downplay winning when you do run end of season tournaments and award teams as champions.  The balance between the purpose and value of HS athletics vs winning is tilting heavily toward winning for too many lately.  It's going to be very hard to tip the scales back if they become too far out of balance. I blame that on the influence of sports programs outside of HS athletics (AAU, club and travel team, etc) and had been thinking about starting a thread with that title to discuss.

I would love for that discussion to be had Blade.  I think you have hit a good portion of the issue on the head - but there are a couple of other factors.

Maybe a new thread is needed instead of us taking over this one.

I'll wait. Let's just enjoy the games this week.
