I am glad that Grafton didn't put throw in the towel and fought back. That was pretty amazing. They said the last overtime game was in 1986. I believe it said.

this was a very sad ending to new londons season. i thought we were gonna win but i was wrong. i was almost abt to cry & i couldnt watch anymore. i was lucky to go in w/ the high school students & i had people behind me getting tears in their eyes. very sad. i feel bad for the players since they were shredding in tears as well. Gold may be nicer than silver but atelast we got the silver ball for the first time in NL Girls Basketball. & a new banner in our gym. 4 now. maybe next year they will shoot for the gold. they took it step by step last year they made it to state lost semi finals this year made it to state won semi finals lost finals. so u see some improvement their. maybe next year we can go undeafeated.

Did anyone notice in the last 35 seconds of the 4th quarter when Grafton got to within two, called a timeout, and the clock kept running? It must have been at least three seconds after the whistle blew until the clock stopped. Nobody said anything....not the TV people or Grafton....which really was surprising. Grafton obviously tied it and then won in OT but I found it distressing that a very tight title game and the clock keeper blew it. The clock keeper should have told the refs about it and time put back on.......and that clock keeper shouldn't be working title games if they can't stop the clock in the final seconds of a tight game.

I did, it went all the way down to 30.9. I kept that in the back of my head just in case, but I don't think it ended up having any effect on the game.

i can just imagine how sick us fans are, i was sad & upset. alot of people were getting tears & i was abt to. NL played a great year & they worked hard to come bakc for the 2nd straight year but you have to take it step by step. it took them a while to get to state & they got thier & then they go again & get farther. i can just imagine what school is gonna be like tomorrow.

This is just my opinion but New London was way better last year with Palmer and that big girl that graduated. They lost to a very good Monroe team and really should've been state champs last year. I thought New London was good this year and deserved to be at state but was actually surprised that they made the championship game. It's not a knock on NL because they have a ton of talent but they really had an easy first round game against Neillsville. Neillsville did not belong at state and really had an easy regional and sectional. If I were to guess there were probably 10-15 teams in D2 that were better than Neillsville but didn't make state because they were in a different regional. I still don't like the WIAA'S setup for playoffs. I say screw distance and start setting things up so that the fans of Wisconsin get to see the best 4 teams at state.
Connor Kurki could be starting QB for Badgers this year no doubt!!

What an absolute roller coaster last 3 games for Grafton. 11 point comeback in the last 3 minutes in the sectional final, almost blowing a big lead in the state semi-final to Greendale, and then overcoming 13 poinst in the final 3 and a half mins. Just crazy.

I can't believe the same downfall two years in a row for NL. They make there freethrows against Monroe and Grafton and they have back to back D-2 state titles. I was watching the NL coach and his expressions were just like last year. He kept say " I can't believe this or unbelievable" and a few other @&&$&%^ words. 3-15 in the fourt is crazy but give NL credit they played hard and could have won.

Very fun game to watch in the last few minutes...As a Grafton fan, it was kind of nerve racking when we went down 13 points with very little time left. As Coach Maronde said "Down 13...that's where we want to be baby"...Grafton has kinda made a name for themselves in making comebacks like that in the past few games they have played. I give props to the New London girls for improving on their trip from last season and giving us a heck of a game. Hopefully the success continues for both teams next year as well.
