ASHWAUBENON PLAYOFF RESULTS: beat Hortonville 21-14, Antigo 17-16 and Menomonie 7-6

SCORING THREATS: Central junior fullback Jake Taylor has run for 13 touchdowns and junior running back Drew Herma has scored 11 times. ... Ashwaubenon junior Jody Van Laanen has played both tailback and quarterback this season and has been one of few constants in a constantly juggled lineup. He scored the Jaguars' touchdown against Menomonie.

AT STAKE: The winner will play in the state title game Nov. 17 at Camp Randall against the Monona Grove-Franklin winner.

Reigning state champion Ashwaubenon plays Brookfield Central. The Jaguars are coming off two one-point victories. Ashwaubenon, which had to forfeit its first four games, has allowed 16 points or fewer in the last seven games. Central has not been to state since 2002 and then went 7-20 from 2003-'05. The Lancers have outscored their playoff opponents by an average of 38-17. ...

Franklin vs. Monona Grove at Oconomowoc, 2 p.m.

Matchup: Fifth-ranked Franklin is 12-0 overall, 8-0 in the Southeast Conference (champion). The Sabers defeated Westosha Central 50-14, West Allis Hale 29-27 and Milwaukee Pius XI 59-23 in the playoffs.

Sixth-ranked Monona Grove is 11-1 overall, 5-1 in the Badger South (second). The Silver Eagles defeated La Crosse Central 34-0, eighth-ranked Milton 22-6 and top-ranked Waunakee 28-17 in the playoffs.

Playoff history: Franklin is making its 11th playoff appearance and first trip to the semifinals ... Monona Grove is also making its 11th playoff appearance. MG won the 1977 Class B state title and 1984 Division 3 state title and was the 2004 Division 2 state runner-up.

Coaches: Jeff Klemp is 12-0 in his first season at Franklin ... Mike Stassi is 68-23 in his eighth season at Monona Grove.

On Franklin: The Sabers are averaging 46 points per game in the playoffs. QB Rob Evans is a dual threat passing (111-of-188, 1,504 yards, 21 TDs) and rushing (117 carries, 715 yards, 6.1 yards per carry, 5 TDs).

RBs Ryan Lawrence (153 carries, 1019 yards, 21 TDs) and Zach Miller (39, 241, 2 TDs) are also averaging 6.0-plus yards per carry. Geoff Stuhr (37 catches, 643 yards, 9 TDs) and Eric Kossoris (42 catches, 644 yards, 8 TDs) are the leading receivers.

The Sabers beat reigning Division 1 state champion Racine Park 14-6 this year and allowed eight points or less in six of their nine regular-season games. Joey Cook (105 tackles, four fumble recoveries), Matt Pearson (80 tackles, 4 sacks), Alex Worzella (80 tackles) and D.J. Nogalski (79 tackles, 2 interceptions) lead the defense.

PK Brandon Helt has made 55-of-57 PATs and converted his only field goal attempt (26 yards).

On Monona Grove: The Silver Eagles' only loss was a 20-13 setback to Verona for the Badger South title in the regular-season finale. MG is averaging 28.0 points in three playoff games but allowed just 23 total points in that span.

Unanimous All-Badger South linemen Ryan Schwenn (6-foot-7, 280 pounds) and Michael Brunner (6-4, 250), a three-year starter, anchor a line that has helped RBs Quinne Walker (1,392 yards, 19 TDs) and Henry Ziebarth (1,187 yards, 15 TDs) both average 7.0 yards per carry. MG is averaging 264 yards rushing per game and 6.5 yards per attempt this season.

QB Tyler Zoern (54-of-120, 1,041 yards, 8 TDs) and WRs Zach Fredenburg (22 catches, 470 yards, 4 TDs) and Thomas Burns (19, 368, 3) anchor an effective passing attack. Zoern has rushed for 233 yards (6.3 ypc), and a TD.

The Silver Eagles are averaging 30.9 points while giving up 8.9 points per game and have four shutouts. LBs Chris Robertson (109 tackles, 3 sacks), Brian O'Connell (106 tackles, 3 sacks), NG Jesse Armour (59 tackles, 11 sacks) and Burns (43 tackles, 5 interceptions) lead the defense.

Robertson is 42-of-45 on PATs and has hit 4-of-5 field goals, including a long of 33 yards.
