I originally posted this in the "high school football" thread but figured more Regis players would see it here-

well its been a few years since i've posted on this site (i'm actually surprised i even remembered my username/password)- but i just wanted to congratulate Regis on a great season. These seniors were freshman my senior year and although I saw a lot of talent, I have to admit that I didin't see this coming. These guys obviously put in the work in the offseason and deserve a lot of credit for going 12-2 and revitalizing the Regis football program. Although i'm sure they're all dissappointed at this tough loss to Edgar but if it is any consolation, the dissappointment will fade away sooner than you think. I never thought i'd get over our loss my senior year to Stratford- but as cliche as it is, the memories of wins and losses, touchdowns and stats, are largely replaced by the memories of team bus rides, wearing your jersey on fridays, and just having fun with the other guys in the lockerroom (if team showers are still as invigorating and exciting as they were when i was there you'll remember those too). Any players get a chance to read this, just know that the Regis community is proud of you guys and keep your heads up because you guys had a very successful season that you will remember forever.

ps seniors- expect to see you guys at the Turkey Bowl!

I agree. Nice year. I honestly felt you guys had a chance in the game. I even voted for you to win it, purely on the basis that you would wear them down defensively with the "scrum" offense. Either way, if you don't want the silver ball, I know lots of teams that would take it. Take pride. This year's Edgar team was an aborition. Plus you scored on their starters. Only team to do that.

Good season regis, but Edgar would have dominated even in D5 or 4, good try though...

They were saying Edgar could compete for the D1 championship, and I might agree and say Edgar would have a chance against the best D1 schools. Great Season for regis

I think the fringe of D3 is the extent of where Edgar could expect to have reasonable success.

The big thing Edgar has on teams in its own division (outside of its vaunted defense) is the ability to routinely beat you through the air. Most D6 schools don't have the real good vertical passing game like Edgar does. However, the higher the division the better those passing attacks become and therefore pass defense improves.

Edgar has about 8-10 guys who could start for just about any team, on at least one side of the ball regardless of division, in the state. That alone, would allow them to be competitive, however, the other 12-14 guys probably do not match up as well, and the higher you go, division-wise, the bigger that talent gap would become and guys like Sinz, Borchardt and Wagner just would not be able to make up the difference.

I also don't think people realize of much of a difference there is in the speed of the game and physicality from D6 to D3 and above...

Newman scored on the STARTERS in the first round. If you want to see it, you bring the popcorn and I will bring the tape.

Congrats Edgar on a great season.

Great season Regis! Congrats to Coach Brenner on leading his team to state... Way to successfully run the double wing all the way to state! I dont think anyone expected to see them at state..

Congrats to both teams!
