Football Players Earn All-WIAC Honors

MADISON, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - A total of eight UW-Eau Claire football players were mentioned in this year's All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team, conference sports information director Matt Stanek announced today.
[link=http://www.wissports.net/?view=athlete&id=3889&sport=fb&season=94]Cory Sartorelli (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./North)[/link] and [link=http://www.wissports.net/?view=athlete&id=3892&sport=fb&season=94]Brett Schreiner (Sr.-Somerset, Wis.)[/link] led the Blugolds as they were named to the first team offense. Three others earned second team honors while two more were honorable mention and one was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Schreiner, who earned All-WIAC first team honors last season as well, led the Blugolds and was fifth in the conference with 55 receptions this year. He accumulated 522 yards, an average of 9.5 yards per catch. He also finished with eight touchdowns.

Paulson, who received honorable mention recognition a season ago, led the conference in passing yards per game with 262.2. He had 2,622 overall yards and completed 213 passes on 337 attempts with just eight interceptions. Paulson was also second on the team in rushing with 311 total yards and led the Blugolds and WIAC in total offense with 2,933 yards. He finished his career second on the Blugolds' all-time career pass attempts list (968), second in completions (558), tied for second in passing touchdowns (47), third in passing yards (6,377) and total yards (7,163).

He has mono...should be back right after the first of December. He had 12 and 8 against the Badgers. The 'Jackets beat his old team; D2 UMD last night by 13!

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (UWECBlugolds.com) - Four UW-Eau Claire football players have been named to the roster of Team Stars & Stripes, which will face the Tec Monterrey All Stars in the 2009 Taz?n de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) on Saturday, December 19 on the Tec de Monterrey Campus Estado de Mexico.

Blugold head coach Todd Glaser will also help lead the team as a defensive line coach. Bill Manlove, the head coach at Delaware Valley, will lead Team Stars & Stripes as the head coach.
Schreiner was an [link=http://www.wissports.net/?view=release&id=3485&sport=fb&season=94]All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC)[/link] first team selection this season on the offensive side of the ball. Paulson was a second team offensive recipient.

Team Stars & Stripes, comprised of NCAA DIII all-stars, will practice at the Tec Monterrey (CEM) facility in Atizapan de Zaragoza near Mexico City, from December 14 to 18 and will also visit the Aztec Pyramids and the nation's capital before facing their Mexican opponents. Tec Monterrey is the premier private university system in Mexico, with campuses in numerous locations around the country. Tec teams have captured eight of the past ten Liga Major football national championships.
