Some people called him colorful, some called him a throwback but no one ever
wanted to play against his teams. When you did play you knew you were in for a battle. He could reduce the game to its lowest common denominator. His teams did not always have the the most talent but they always would hit and if they didn't there would be hell to play.
All of his players were better people for having played for " the Ripper".
