It's been a pretty amazing start, lots of amazing things have occurred.

Yet a very strong statement can be made this weekend.

Probable Starters

Friday, April 5th - 7:10 p.m. CDT
Jose Quintana vs. Brandon Woodruff

Quintana has a 1.62 ERA in 11 career starts against the Brewers, allowing 13 runs in 72.1 innings while striking out 67.

Saturday, April 6th - 6:10 p.m. CDT
Cole Hamels vs. Corbin Burnes

Hamels allowed 2 runs in 6 innings in his only start against the Brewers as a Cub last year. The Cubs lost that game, but it’s okay, because it wasn’t a rivalry.

Sunday, April 7th - 1:10 p.m. CDT
Kyle Hendricks vs. Zach Davies

I'm going with 2 of 3 for the crew.
I can't even imagine what will happen when this team starts hitting!😱

God I love this game!

Eek! These young arms have to keep the ball in the ballpark.

Why did the Brewers keep Thames again?
And Arcia as well....

I say "FIRE CAPEERS!"

Burnes has some magical stuff on his pitches.
He is learning.
Very few Big Leaguers are Cy Young by their 2nd start.

I say stick with this kid, he is GOOD!
I predict double digit victories for him THIS season.
That is dang good for a first year starter!

I saw him try to get too fine last night.
These are Big League hitters and the Cubs are "EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD" Big League hitters.

Today has two junk ball pitchers, should be interesting.
I am thinking both teams want this one!

BTW-after further review, maybe we should stick with this whole team a little bit.
Seems some want Babe Ruth and Cy Young at every spot, not how it works boys.

you have an all-star and MVP laced line up, enjoy the ride.
Get a smaller glass!
Because ours is way more than half full!

I would look for Thames to be in the starting lineup today against Hendricks.  Road - I will admit I am not a Thames guy and feel his salary could be used better elsewhere - but, he is capable to carrying a team for a week with his bat.  Play the hot hand I say!

Taylor Williams continues leave pitches over the plate and getting hit hard.  At some point, I would think looking elsewhere has to be an option with him.  I am not as worried about Wilson - last night was a tough night - but leading up to it, he has been pretty good.  Sounds like Jeffress is 10-14 days away, so adding him back into the mix will be a big deal.

A tough question here, once Jeffress is back and if he returns to his known form, does he become the closer and Hader goes back into his role from last year??  I would not do that, but I think it may be discussed.

Get a win today and last night is forgotten.  Davies has to keep the ball in the park today.

A good bounce back win today.  Aside from one pitch, Davies did the job. And Hader - seriously, what more can be said about him.  But, how many times can CC go to the well for 2 2/3 to close a game?  Probably makes Hader unavailable until Wednesday and maybe for the entire Angels series.

As far as Burnes goes, if the organization views him as a starter and they have said that all along, then he isn't going anywhere - for now  However, if on the 1st of June he is still giving up the long ball and missing out over the plate - with an ERA of 6.00+ - then don't they have to think about a change??  Every win is going to be important this season and for me, it will be hard to see him continue to try to figure it out and maybe not give the team the best chance to win.
