the cavs are reportedly going after Charlie V. would this put them over the hump and get a ship?? how much better would that make the cavs and should they do it?

I like this choice for the Cavs...it won't make them an absolute championship contender but CV will make a better impact than Rasheed Wallace or any other veterans would.

Villanueva is nothing special, he's played on poorly constructed and poorly managed teams his entire NBA career where you just go out and do whatever you want every night playing alongside scrubs. Put him on a team where there's a definitive pecking order and definitive role, and he'll be a lost, underachiever just like he was at UConn.

I think the question was do you think this would help the cavs and how/how much. not "this is an open thread to hate on Charlie V, or any other players who may make the cavs better because your scared that they will beat the Lakers." so thanks MBC for that.

Mo Williams is a loose cannon, LeBron has the ball all the time, Shaq wants the ball all the time, and Villanueva is a drifter with no clue on how to fit in with a team that actually has expectations that exceed the draft lottery. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians = see ya.

My god, lets just give them Michael Redd too. If the 2007-2008 Bucks had Lebron James instead of Bobby Simmons, they would have won 60 games!

Actually it reminds me a lot of the Heat team that won it. Think about.
Old Shaq and Older Shaq
Antoine Walker and Charlie V
LeBron and Wade
Mo Williams and J Williams.
Coaches that haven't done much in the play-offs.
All they need is for Pat Riley to take over midseason and they'll be set.

The starting five might be similar. but the backups are way different. Alonzo, Gary Payton, Haslem, POSEY, are the type of players that separate the two teams. I think the Cavs need to make a move or two more, or there bench needs to improve.

I think Rasheed Wallace would be much, much better for the Cavs. He is a real nice inside/outside combo that would be hard to stop along LeBron and Shaq.

I agree, but he would be much harder to acquire, Charlie V could be a way for the cavs to add a nice player who fits, with allowing a little wiggle room to make another move.

Why are a lot of people so high on Charlie V? He is a sub-par free agent in my mind. He shined on a bad team and he doesn't play any D.

I think Rasheed Wallace is a much better fit than Charlie V. Sheed has a presence inside (when he wants to) and he could make a living on the perimeter getting dish outs from LBJ and Shaq.

Lakers are the team to beat, if they sign Ariza. Otherwise I think it's the Spurs even though I don't want to admit it.

If they can get sheed for 10 mil. do it. if they can get Charlie V for 5 mil and posibly another player or two, that would also be good. both are a stretch, but charlie v will go to the cavs if they offer him 5 or so. it seems like a lock in that situation. Dont get me wrong, i have been a sheed fan ever since he was killin for the blazers, and i want him on the cavs soooo bad. but i just dont know if they will go for it

I think it has a lot to do with him being a project. He was pretty raw when he was drafted out of Uconn. He showed a rare few flashes in Toronto and last season he put together 2-3 very solid consecutive months.

The thought was he was finally playing more in control because he was in a contract year.

IMO, he is Great 6th man, and a very average starter. I think LeBron will make him much better. As he did/does with Mo.

However, he really doesn't help the bucks much at a 5 mil 1 year contract.

And agreed with the defense, he fit right in with Mil in that regard.

He liked Milwaukee, and put forth in effort every night...That is why I like/d him. I wish him an NBA title someday, just not with Lebron.
