Should be a good one!
The depth and defense of Onalaska proved to be too much for Central in their last meeting, but I think Central will get their revenge this time, setting up what will be a very exciting round 3 in the sectional semifinal.

Halftime

LaX Central jumped out to an 11-0 lead but it's been fairly even since.

Ona making life difficult for Johnny Davis, but he's been able to get to the line and has the Red Raiders back in front after the Hilltoppers took a brief lead.

 Final

That game was won on the sidelines tonight.  For Onalaska, just a gritty performance.  When Central would hit them with a run they came punching right back.   Onalaska didn't shoot the ball very well tonight, however they swallowed Central's offense up with a variety of looks.  Sam Kick and Carson Arenz were very good tonight, together they made some big plays down the stretch to pull that game out.

For Central, the half court offense is a mess, atrocious spacing, don't let them run and they struggle.    Onalaska will carve you up if you let them get into the lane off the dribble.  Jordan Davis has to guard Sam Kick if they meet up again, you have to keep him out of the lane and not allow him to get open looks.  Johnny needs to guard Arenz as well, you can't let him get open looks...Make someone else beat you.  Central can't have people dropping into the lane to help out on dribble penetration, it ends up leaving someone on a very good shooting team wide open.

Hoping these two meet up again, I would still favor Onalaska based off what i've saw the first two rounds.

Final

A switch to zone in the second half pays dividends for Onalaska, and Carson Arenz and Sam Kick made big shot after big shot as the Hilltoppers sweep the regular season series.

Onalaska:
Carson Arenz 22 points, 6 rebounds
Tyrell Stuttley 12 points, 7 rebounds

La Crosse Central:
Johnny Davis 26 points, 15 rebounds
Jordan Davis 14 points, 6 rebounds

With their in-season sweep of LAX Central, is Onalaska currently the best boys prep hoops team in WI ?

I would put Hamilton, Brookfield Central, Nicolet(now that Jalen's back) and Maidson La Follette ahead of them at the moment.  I haven't had the opportunity to watch Arrowhead this year yet, not sure if they're better than them or not.

Got to see them tonight. They go as Gilmore goes, which has been pretty good this year. They can't really afford to not have him on the floor. Not sure they overall have what it takes to beat Sussex or BC, unless either of them has a real off-day.

I'm also skeptical of the strength of the C8 this season.

It will be interesting to see how the seeds fall in that half-sectional...you also have a still-undefeated Milwaukee King lurking around...though I'm not sure if that record is legit or reflective of a very down City Conference (they don't play Bay View until next Tuesday too), they have some decent NC wins, but only the 30-point win over a wildly inconsistent WAC squad stands out as a definitive result.
