Last week, ... oof. Out of 7 games, no one went better than 4-3. Just about everyone missed on Lake Mills/Lakeside Lutheran (only ash22 hit on it), and just about everyone missed on Poynette/Luther Prep (only kg19 hit on it). Some sage calls in there, like these:

-- "... in a high scoring affair" - kg19 on the Lake Mills/Lakeside game (except the pick was for Lake Mills)
-- "The Slider Bowl has a way of producing unexpected results." - me (and then I proceeded to take Lake Mills)
-- "Normally I'd take the hosts here, ..." - me on the Poynette/Luther Prep game (and then I proceeded to take the visitors)
-- "Probably going down to the last possession in this one. Columbus pulls this one out." - amped0808 on the Columbus/Lodi game

And then, there was ...

-- "I don't know the last time the Cardinals had it stuck to them by their Wisconsin 19 neighbors, but there's a real possibility that it happens here." - me on Waterloo/Marshall. It was tight much of the way.
-- "They will slow Cbus down a little but Columbus by 17." - kg19 on Lodi/Columbus. Lodi slowed them down a lot. Like, a whole lot. (But, the pick was for Columbus and there was a 17 in the score - so there's that.)
-- "It's the L-Cats that rule the town this year." - whfan202. Doh!
-- "Poynette keeps their playoff hopes alive for another week." - amped0808. Doh!

So, let's all shake it off and look forward.

Standings after Week 7
T1. thecrackerjack, kg19, importfromil: 43-17
4. whfan202: 42-17
T5. amped0808, ash22themagnificent, capcon: 42-18
9. Badgers5719: 7-7

Yes, we have about 14 games to go and it's practically an 8-way tie. Unreal.

Week 8 Schedule
NORTH: Columbus (3-0. 7-0) at Lake Mills (2-1, 5-2)
NORTH: Lakeside Lutheran (1-2, 3-4) at Luther Prep (1-2, 2-5)

SOUTH: Cambridge (0-2, 3-4) at Marshall (0-2, 1-6)
SOUTH: Waterloo (3-0, 4-3) at New Glarus/Monticello (2-0, 4-3)

Current picks (getting in front of everyone):

Columbus vs. Lake Mills: if you like offense, this might be a game to go watch. If you're Lake Mills, you're really wishing next week's game vs. Lodi wasn't suddenly "must win to get in." Cardinals by 30.

Lakeside Lutheran vs. Luther Prep: This could come back to bite me, but I'll take the visitors here. Prep has momentum after taking Lodi to the limit and edging Poynette, and this is at home, but Lakeside has a decent shot at the playoffs after last week. I'll say Lakeside seizes the opportunity. Warriors by 14.

Lodi vs. Poynette: One team has nothing to play for, the other could have a let-down after a climatic game ... but I'm guessing someone shows up here pissed off. Blue Devils by 35.

Cambridge at Marshall: No way to pretty it up, the hosts are in for another long night - except this one officially ends the playoff streak at 11 seasons. Bluejays by 21.

Waterloo at New Glarus/Monticello: easily Game of the Week as this will decide the C-South title. It's tempting to take the Pirates and say they'll plod their way to victory, but being on the road and with a Glarner Knights team that's put up decent wins and had stiffer competition, ... nope, can't do it. Glarner Knights by 18.

Belleville at Southwestern: for those who like the transitive property of sports - Southwestern lost to Boscobel by 19, and Boscobel lost to Belleville by 18. No, the visitors won't put up 84 points like Darlington did last week, but they'll probably still put up some points and should cruise. Wildcats by 30.

North Shore Country Day at Wisconsin Heights: what to make of this? They've been about the same vs. common opponents; NSCD had a closer result vs. Oakfield, Heights had a closer result vs. Abundant Life. You know my rule here. Vanguards by 6.

Good Stuff Import, My picks for the week!

Columbus @ LM: Columbus is beat up after last week. I think they will start slow but take care of business. C-Bus by 28. However I do expect LM to keep in interesting for awhile. I think Lodi gave a bit of a blueprint to beat Columbus. LM just doesn't have the D to do it.

Lakeside @ Luther Prep: This has the makings of a good game. Lakeside suddenly looking to make a push for the playoffs. I think they get it done. Lakeside by 8.

Lodi @ Poynette: I would not want to play Lodi this week. Coming off a tough loss they are going to want to take it out on someone. Lodi is beat up as well after last week. But will get it done here. Lodi by 24. Lodi is also going to want to get qualifying out of the way before they play Lake Mills!

Cambridge @ Marshall: Marshall played well last week and kept it close. In an upset special Marshall by 1. Someone has to go out on a limb to break up the log jamb!

Waterloo @ NG: Would not shock me if Waterloo won. But I just don't see it happening here. NG by 11.

Belleville @ Southwestern: Riding on Import's break - down I will take Belleville by 29.

NSCD @ Heights. What the hell I'll take North Shore by 3

My picks:

Columbus
Lakeside Lutheran
Lodi (It'll take more the homecoming element for the Pumas to surprise the Blue Devils, no offense to anyone from Lodi nor Poynette)
Cambridge
Waterloo
Southwestern
Wisconsin Heights

NORTH: Columbus (7-0, 3-0) at Lake Mills (2-1, 5-2): Lake Mills makes it a game early, but Columbus rolls late.

NORTH: Lakeside Lutheran (1-2, 3-4) at Luther Prep (1-2, 2-5): Both teams still have a shot at the postseason, but Lakeside has the easier schedule to make the playoffs.

NORTH: Lodi (2-1, 6-1) at Poynette (0-3, 3-4): Lodi bounces back.

SOUTH: Cambridge (0-2, 3-4) at Marshall (0-2, 1-6): Cambridge keeps their playoff hopes alive.

SOUTH: Waterloo (3-0, 4-3) at New Glarus/Monticello (2-0, 4-3): Toss up.

SOUTH NC: Belleville (4-3) at Southwestern (1-6): Granted Belleville won't drop 84 points on Southwestern.

[Saturday] 8-MAN: North Shore/Country Day, IL (3-2, 3-2) at Wisconsin Heights (3-2, 5-2): Heights should have no issues here.

Import, where did I miss a pick? Just curious. Like altogether.

Oops, my mistake - you don't have any missed picks. It's ash22themagnificent who has a missed pick (Deerfield/Cambridge, week 2). I'll refigure standings later tonight.
