Before we get to the playoffs, we need to crown the regular-season pick 'em champion ... and after a tight race in the pack throughout much of the season, we finally got separation at the end.

Joining this list of illustrious winners:

2012 - theguru, 38-10
2013 - importfromil, 43-11
2014 - badgerfan15, 58-12
2015 - amped0808, 55-15

Is ... another first-time champion, thecrackerjack! thecrackerjack puts in a 5-2 week along with ash22themagnificent and badgers5719, but it's enough to hold off capcon for the title.

Final Pick 'Em Standings
1. thecrackerjack: 53-20
2. capcon: 51-22
3. kg19: 50-23

T4. amped0808: 49-24
T4. importfromil: 49-24
T4. whfan202: 49-24
7. ash22themagnificent: 48-23
8. badgers5719: 19-9

Yes, I know ... 3rd place is supposed to be yellow. It doesn't show up well, so I'm using green instead.

I'm trying to think of a "good" way to do playoff pick 'em. I'd like to do confidence picks in some form, but once we get down to one or two teams it gets tough. I thought of starting with say 20 points per round, you can bet up to half (unless we're down to 2 teams, then it's max 15 - and at one team left, it's all-or-nothing) or as little (min. 1 point) on each game. However, I'm totally open to suggestions here. We'll figure it out by say Tuesday night; if no one has a better idea, I'll put something up.

Level 1 Playoff Games -- all games Friday, 7:00pm; I don't expect any of them to be different
D4: #5 Brodhead/Juda (5-4) at #4 Lodi (7-2)
D4: #6 Mauston (6-3) at #3 Lake Mills (6-3)
D5: #8 Dominican (5-4) at #1 Columbus (9-0)
D5: #5 New Glarus/Monticello (6-3) at #4 Arcadia (6-3)
D5: #8 Marshall (3-6) at #1 Clinton (8-1)
D6: #7 Waterloo (4-5) at #2 Pecatonica/Argyle (9-0)

Wisconsin Heights is not eligible for the 8-man jamboree since it has an enrollment over 200, so the Vanguards are done for the year with a record of 7-2.
I'm not saying some things the WIAA does are wrong, ... I'm just saying, "I find it weird."

First, I'd like bathe in the glory that is the Capitol Conference Pick 'Em Championship! It feels amazing to join such an illustrious group of champions!

As for the playoff pick 'em, I like the idea of confidence points for the postseason. What about bringing in a game or two from outside the league to fill out the picks when teams get knocked out?

Picks for the playoffs

BH/Juda @ Lodi: It seems as though Lodi has not handled the Columbus loss well. I think they are capable of making a run. But if they don't show something here I think they will be a level 2 out. Lodi by 20!

Mauston @ Lake Mills: I wished I would of picked Lake Mills last week. I wanted to. Thought Lodi would get it together. I think Lake Mills keeps it going. Lake Mills by 12!.

Dominican @ Columbus: Columbus with a running clock! They better stay focused on what's in front of them. A lot of talk already about Camp Randall.

NGM @ Arcadia: Long trip to Arcadia. Arcadia has played a tough schedule. I like them here Arcadia by 14!

Marshall @ Clinton: Well somehow Marshall got it done. But not this week. Clinton by 24.

Waterloo @ Pecatonica/Argyle: Not much to say here other than Pec/Argyle by 28!.

The weakness of the Capitol South is going to hurt them in these game. Where the Capitol North strength should serve them all well. Look for deep runs by Columbus and Lodi if they can get it going. I think Lake Mills is a dark horse because of their ability to score. I will be at the Lodi game and am looking forward to watching them play.

Good Luck to all the teams!

D4: #5 Brodhead/Juda (5-4) at #4 Lodi (7-2): Someone's gonna regret putting Lodi this low.
D4: #6 Mauston (6-3) at #3 Lake Mills (6-3): Could be a closer game than anyone thinks....Mauston is no slouch.
D5: #8 Dominican (5-4) at #1 Columbus (9-0): At least Dominican got off the "Never Qualified for the WIAA Playoffs" streak.
D5: #5 New Glarus/Monticello (6-3) at #4 Arcadia (6-3): Coulee > Cap South
D5: #8 Marshall (3-6) at #1 Clinton (8-1): Sensing a similar pattern here.
D6: #7 Waterloo (4-5) at #2 Pecatonica/Argyle (9-0): Uh Darlington has already scored on both teams.

Lodi (8-2) at River Valley (7-2): Not really much of an upset here.

Lake Mills (7-3) at Platteville (8-2): This could go either way. Platteville had issues with East Troy.

Kenosha St. Joseph's (7-3) at Columbus (10-0): Cards roll on.
