If you look at the State Issue of the WSN magazine that just came out (links on wishoops) for the Division 1 sectional 4 it lists Brookfield Central as the favorite and rightfully so, but after that it goes to list WAC as the sleeper which is okay I guess, whatever lol but when it lists others to watch, the teams listed are Vincent, King, Hamton, and another team...The number one seeded Racine Case Eagles are not even mentioned at all as a team to watch even though they beat Vincent, have a higher seed than Hamilton and WAC and are extremely deep and talented for those who have seen them play. Can someone explain that? I'm just annoyed because it seems like a lot of Racine teams not named St Catherines get very little recognition or coverage from this site, the WIAA, or NY2LA for that matter. And this isn't the first time something screwy like this gas happened. Just the other day the eagles blew out st cats at st cats which was the first time in program history they beat them at st cats, yet the story ends up on page 5 lol although that was the local paper who prolly has st cats alumni on board or something. I just am trying to say that the kids in this area are a lot better than most of the state sees them (park and Horlick too) and It just puzzles me why there isn't a little more praise if that makes sense.

With that said, I am asking an honest question. Does the state of Wisconsin have that bad of an image of the Racine area? Or at least the public schools there? Or do other areas really not really want to acknowledge when a racine team accomplishes something? I apologize if I sound a bit over the top, but it just doesn't make sense to me the lack of coverage. Somethings isn't right.

Have you seen the Southeast in the last few years? Outside of them the entire conference will beat up on each other on a night to night basis. Heck even Oak Creek who lost to a mediocre Greenfield team last week beat them last night. Case lacks defensive prowess that good Racine teams seem to lack.

Also I despise usernames that bemoan the five division format or any other issue in other sports.

You need to read a little closer. Case is mentioned at the top of page 9 as one of the other favorites behind Brookfield Central, along with King and Riverside. I would suggest that you take the chip off of your shoulder. I don't think anyone is intentionally trying to slight the teams from the Racine area.

I read, my team doesn't get talked about enough and it upsets me greatly.

"Does the State of Wisconsin have that bad of an image of the Racine area ?" you asked.

Can't speak for the entire State, but the image is being tarnished by at least one whiner that appears to be a poor speller, has a problem with proper capitalization(not the $$kind) and has a tendency to laugh out loud a lot at inappropriate times.

Racine Case is definitely talented and deep (and have been for 3-4 years now); however, the last two seasons they have defeated Looney and Hamilton only to get spanked by King in the sectional final.

This might be the year, but now Brookfield Central might have something to say about it.
If the team or the city really feels slighted - going out and winning - will go a long way to support any claim of "bias".

Racine high school basketball has always been a mystery to me. I am from Milwaukee (Hamilton '93) but I lived in Racine for six years from 2001-2007 and frequented high school games.

The amount of talent playing on the AAU teams and at the local centers there is amazing. The freshmen and JV teams at the Racine high schools tend to dominate the other SE conference schools. And Racine has had a few good runs at State including Case winning the State championship in 1999 and Horlick making it to the championship game in 2009 with Jamil Wilson.

But I always get the sense that there is some lost potential there. I think there were some teams from Park or Horlick or Case that should have gone further. I don't know if its coaching or if its influences from the community or lack of focus or the lack of competitive depth in the Southeast Conference - but all of the talent never seems to amount to success come tournament time.

What's interesting to me is that Racine schools I think had a much easier route to Madison prior to the 5 divisions - they really only had to get past Brookfield Central to make it to State (granted 8 teams made it). Now - they do have to face the other Milwaukee sectional, which will mean getting by King or Hamilton (or - of course Brookfield Central).

Of course - St. Catherine's has had major success throughout the years in Divisions 4 and 3. How much of that can be attributed to just solid coaching, discipline, and motivation and how much can be attributed to playing other smaller schools and, come the run to State, schools from much smaller communities? I, for one, am a huge fan of Coach Letsch.

At any rate - throughout the 2000s Racine schools certainly had their opportunities to make a run at State, but more often have failed to deliver.
