If they can find a decent fielding 1b, play Scooter at 2b, and keep Braun, Gomez, and ARam healthy we are looking at a decent season at worst.

BTW--I am beginning to think some have me on ignore.[afro]

fielding % is only part of the equation. It's good to catch everything that comes their way, but getting to balls down the line and in the hole are a different matter.

In 2010, Fielder had a .997 fielding %, but I wouldn't have called him good that season.

His last real above average season at 1st was 2010 with the Blue Jays.

He might be the best option the Brewers have, but if you're going to play someone with an OPS near worst at the position you need someone that is going to save as many runs as he's costing. At this point in his career, he's just not doing that anymore.

Who you talking about, Reynolds or Francisco??????

This was in Buster Olney's column today:

"Some teams had significant concerns about whether Matt Garza would be at a heightened risk for an elbow injury, and the Brewers worked to protect themselves with a fifth-year vesting option.
By the way: The wide perception within the industry is that Brewers owner Mark Attanasio was the driving force behind this deal, rather than the team?s baseball operations department, much in the same way that Attanasio pushed for the Kyle Lohse deal last spring."

I don't think this comes as a surprise to anyone.
