so I have been gone for about 4 days, but I felt I had to share this story since I missed the whole argument

so there I was...Padres/Brewers game...at County Stadium...but the date slips my mind...it was one of the last years the stadium was open and I was all pumped up because it was me my dad my mom and my cousin...me and my cousin are the same age, grew up together and are still basically best friends to this day...so we are sitting there and didn't get a ball during BP...but a bunch of guys are playing catch in front of the dugout and down the outfield line...and to this day IDK why he was playing catch (guessing off day or something maybe?) but there he was...a monster...at the time I thought he was at least 7 feet tall...big #51...playing catch right in front of me and my cousin who somehow made it to the 3rd row with my dad...a crowd had gathered and I've heard then name on the back of the jersey before so I wanted a ball from the guy...I called out the name on the back of his jersey about 50 times in between every throw...so then it happened...he got done playing catch and turned around and walked RIGHT AT ME...I was jumping around with no glove on just hoping to catch this ball...he gets about 5-10 feet from the railing and tosses the ball...it's coming right at me...I jump for the ball and so does my cousin...the ball gets knicked by a kid in front of me and the ball hits me in the nose...so I'm down holding my nose because now all I can see is stars and my nose is pounding...well while I was "dying" in my own mind...my dad basically jumped on the ground behind me and next to my cousin and grabbed the ball that had landed on the ground...next thing I know my dad has the ball in my hand and needless to say the pain in my face has subsided due to adrenaline from knowing I just got a ball from some good player...when I was like ohhh cool thanks dad...he then hands it to my cousin and he thanks my dad and is all smiles...

well needless to say...I never got a ball at a baseball game...my cousin who got that ball from Trevor Hoffman...he already had 4 different balls from big league games...making this one #5 for him...I was so mad at him and my dad I didn't say a word to either of them the rest of the game or the way home and I held a grudge against my cousin for a long time...finally when the Crew signed Hoffman this year I called him up and asked him what he ever did with that ball from Hoffy...to which he replied...and I quote "Oh yeah that's who threw that ball to your dad when he gave it to me wasnt it? Yeah I actually think I played catch with it for a while and then I would throw it and let my dog fetch it until he had it all chewed up." I hung up the phone...FML

Since I never got a ball when i was a kid would it be ok if I caught one and there was a little kid there and i didn't give it to him?

I guess I would give it to a kid, because while it would be cool getting one, after I got home I don't think it would really mean that much to me, unless it was from my favorite player or something. But I am also an old geezer.

Also another story from Hardricourt on this tool and what he did on Jenkins' 200th home run:
"Maybe he should also detail how he held up Geoff Jenkins for his 200th home run ball a few years by demanding Prince Fielder autographed bats, etc. Nothing like holding balls for the highest ransom, huh? He talks about classy moves in his blog. Would you call that a classy move on his part? Why should Geoff Jenkins have to go and ask Prince Fielder to sign stuff so Jenkins can retrieve a milestone homer? If you were a true Brewers fan, wouldn't you make it easy on a player who was the face of the franchise all those years?"

He made a big post on another brewer related message board giving his side of the story one more time and the guys over there ripped into him pretty good as well.

How old is he and why does he call himself youngster? To me, a youngster is a kid....and I'm old. Its like he knows he's a tool but is still trying to pull off the kid routine to make it "ok".

Thanks. They were remarkably civil over there. "TheCrew07" had a +100-type post.

I had forgotten about it until I saw it mentioned over there, but "The Happy Youngster" pulled the same shenanigans with Geoff Jenkins back in the day, though I forget exactly what that was about.

I believe it was mentioned earlier in the thread, but he is 29. "The Happy Youngster" moniker was bestowed on him by Bill Schroeder during a game at County Stadium in 1999 when he caught two HR balls in the same game. From there, he's really ran with the persona...to say the least.

After all of the negative publicity he is getting now, maybe he will finally drop it. Maybe the wissports 300 need to visit his site. [:-]

I posted earlier about his dealing with Jenkins on his 200th home run. Tried to get him to get a Prince Fielder bat.

His blog was already taken down. The deadspinners are even more powerful than the Wissports 300.

this guy is everything that is wrong with sports fans today...thinking they are there to watch entertainment...which is exactly what it is...this guy feels like he is owed something...its almost as bad as the parents who try to control coaches in younger sports...it's even worse this guy calls himself a brewers "fan"
