ESPN reports that Porter has been fired by the Milwaukee Bucks. They are possibly looking to hire Flip Saunders or Nate McMillan.

Apparently performing slightly better than expected isn't good enough..?

If they can get Nate McMillan then maybe they can also bring Ray Allen to town. This might be an inkling that Redd isn't going to resign with the Bucks.

Very Interesting

Why did Herb Kohl fire Terry Porter today? Where did this come from......I was under the impression he was coming back next season? How can you make a speech about an energy bill on the US Senate floor one minute and fire a coach the next? (which is what Kohl actually did today)

I'd have to call this a surprise as well. Not so much the fact that he got fired, but rather, the timing of it (months after the end of the season). I'm hoping this means that they've got a better coach waiting in the wings.

They are not going to get McMillan, it's pretty expected that he will resign with Seattle or sign with Detroit. Even if they got him, why would they bring Allen back? He's a SG, and we already have Redd there. This Allen back to the Bucks talk has to end, it's not going to happen. If it did, I would never watch the Bucks again. They can't sign both Allen and Redd, so they would be giving up a 25 year old player for a guy that's in his late twenties. Talk about screwing the franchise for the future.

What proof do you have that Redd is going to come back? I know they can't sign them both, that is EXACTLY why I said that maybe Allen would be coming back to the Bucks, MEANING, that maybe Redd isn't going to come back. Think about it before you go on a rampage!

I think we are going to get a new owner who does not want Porter as coach.

ESPN's Ric Bucher reported tonight on Sportscenter that the Bucks have a tenative agreement with Flip Saunders to be their next coach.

I love the timing of the Bucks' front office in deciding to fire Porter a week before the NBA Draft and before the announcement, Milwaukee (had they made the move several weeks ago) had a slim chance to hire Phil Jackson. Well, so much for that.

Very interesting point actually. Had they made the decision to fire Porter earlier, they did have that very slim chance to lure Phil Jackson to Milwaukee. I'm sure Phillip would'nt of came to Milwaukee, but why not give yourself the chance to draw in one of the greatest coaches ever?

I can guarantee you that the bucks had no chance at Phil Jackson. And for the bucks to fire Porter at this time and the relativity towards the draft date pretty much means they probably have strong feelings and possibly talks with another coach. I would not be surprised if Saunders was named the head coach in the coming weeks.

Count me in on the shocked side of this vote. WOW, this wasn't expected. Doesn't say much about the confidence we have in our coach.

This opens up the possibility of Porter going to the Trailblazers.
