Sharpshooting senior Chase Lamp fires in 19 to add to his 1000 career mark attained earlier this week.
High-flying senior Kolt Linzmeier on the receiving end of numerous fast breaks has career night with 20.

The Royals' 4 Marawood losses by 6-2-1-1 points leave them haunted by what might have been. May need to gain some solace/ satisfaction when tournament time rolls around. Among the teams "standing in their light" in the D5 NE sectional will be #2 Wausaukee, #3 Port Edwards, #4 Gresham and Newman. Stay tuned.

I took the opportunity to catch this one tonight, my first time seeing either team live. This was a very fun game to watch, with one huge exception. The crew that officiated this game was an embarrassment to those that don the stripes & do a very difficult task. Memorial was very physical, and to their credit, it threw Rice Lake off their game. The problems arose when numerous, rather obvious, fouls by Memorial were not called, while Rice Lake was regularly whistled for the same offenses. Memorial was very physical with Ellenson, which is a smart strategy....lest he torch the defense, but what they were allowed to do to him was embarrassing, made worse by two fouls that should have been whistled as intentional. I give the Rice Lake coach credit for being able to avoid a technical foul, as he certainly had reasons to go off on the officiating crew tonight.

I came to this game hoping to see a good high school basketball game, as well as a special talent, and I did. Memorial was aggressive and physical, and they put themselves in a position to win the game. Rice Lake did not respond to that pressure as well as they should have, and it is the underlying cause of their loss tonight. But man, I would be absolutely embarrassed to have been an official on that crew. They detracted greatly from the positives from tonight. I sincerely hope this is an aberration and not the status quo for them. I will never believe that officiating costs a team a game. But in my 30 years of watching high school basketball, this crew almost did enough to get a mention in the box score.

Just my two cents.
