Beau Benzschawel was an All Big-10 and All-American guard at Wisconsin.  Along with fellow guard Michael Deiter and tackle David Edwards, Benzschawel was a projected to be an NFL draft choice (specifically, a mid-rounder) this past April.

(In the end), Benzschawel was the only one of the three NFL-hopeful Wisconsin offensive linemen not to hear his name called during the seven-round draft. However, he drew plenty of interest after the fact with, reportedly more than 20 teams ringing him up.

Now, after signing a free agent deal with Detroit, it appears Benzschawel has a very good chance at being in the Lions' opening day starting line-up.

And, certainly not to my surprise, Benzschawel's ticket has been his pass-blocking ability & talent, something Detier & Edwards struggled mightily with in 2018.
