Hillsboro's taking it to Potosi, at the end of three Hillsboro is up 61-48. As I understand it, Alexander is definitely leading the charge.
I will not apologize for being awesome.

i broke the game down on the six rivers board, so this is a little geared more towards those readers with the potosi talk, but ill still post it on here.

so being a thursday and having nothing better to do, i decided to journy to richland center to watch this game and man was it worth it. hillsboro won by eight, and eight was the closest it got the whole game. hillsboro came out with a strong dose of alexander, fourteen points in the first five minutes. literally, no exaduration, i was taking stats on the program for the good people of this site. hillsboro got out to an eleven point lead pretty early, and the lead literally seemed like it was eleven every time i looked at the scoreboard, sometimes a little more, never really less. in the first half vacha played very well for potosi, scoring i think what was all 12 of his points that i counted in that half. take all my stats with a slight give or take, who knows how accurate they are, except alexander's fourteen in five minutes, i know thats true. the second half hillsboro got away from getting alexander every possession, but still managed to match potosi basket for basket whenever you thought potosi was getting ready to make a run. thompson really led hillsboro in the second half when the stopped feeding it to alexander, which i believe was a mistake, but at least thompson was hitting shots. the main story of the second half i think was the play of senior derek flesch from potosi. for those who haven't seen him play this year, which was me until tonight, think of josh slaney, a little bigger, with a jump shot, and able to actually get off the ground and you got this guy. he was literally everywhere at one time, it was mind bottling. he also scored 30 points by my calculations, which almost all came in the second half. at one point, i don't know why he would even pass the ball. in the fourth with about four minutes left hillsboro started to stall, and potosi forced turnovers and got some transition points, and thats how they got it down to eight. when it came down to it though, thompson calmly sunk free throw after free throw, even as potosi kept scoring to keep the pressure on. great game all around, congrats on the season potosi, and im personally thinking hillsboro is going to state. there is nobody from assumption or wherever that can stop pat alexander down low. if they think they can play there 1-3-1 and even dream of holding him under 30, they have another thing coming.

And Assumption ends yet another SBC team's season, as they down Hillsboro 57-52. Hillsboro definitely had their chances as they were ahead numerous times. Alexander and Thompson had about 18 each. Apparently, turnovers were a big issue for the Tigers.

Great season for Hillsboro, just too bad that it had to end this early. I'm pretty sure if Hillsboro had won there, they would have been the first SBC team (well, in theory as most of the teams were in county leagues back then) to go to state since Bangor went in 1936.
I will not apologize for being awesome.

In lighter news from Onalaska Hillsboro senior Justin Thompson went over 1000 points for his career. That means the duo of Alexander and Thompson both hit that magical number this year. One hell of an accomplishment for these seniors and they will be the first to say they couldn't have done it without the help of the third senior on that team, Garrett Zimmerman. These three each would have been stars if they would have been on their own but combined they gave the community of Hillsboro some of the best basketball they have seen. It was great playing with and watching these guys the last 4 years, and their impact on the school goes far beyond the plaques they've put up on the walls of the hallways. Best of luck to each of them in the future!
Well sir, while I may not agree with what you say, I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Every thing is funner with a runner!

as a fan and alum of assumption i would also like to congratulate the hillsboro boys, coaches, parents and fans. what a great game and atmostphere it was! your school and community has so much to be very proud of. your players were tenacious on the court and gracious with a tough loss. i wish your seniors all the success they deserve and wish Hillsboro the best of luck next season.
