This game proved to me that a dekker isn't NBA ready. He completely disappeared in the second half...yikes.

I just don't see Dekker playing in the NBA. Not athletic enough, not a lights-out shooter, not a great defender, and too slow to cover good guards and not nearly strong enough to guard forwards. He is a good college player but that's it.

Hilarious.

I hope that comment was made for the "not playing in the nba" reply, and not mine for saying as of now he isn't nba ready? There are critical parts of his game that need to be developed at the college level before he jumps to the nba i.e. Defense, shooting, free throws, leadership, ect. Is he athletic enough to play in the nba? Sure, as are TONS of other players, but as of right now there is no chance he is ready. If you are going to play the 3 in the nba you need to be able to shoot, and another year of development would help him a ton.

It was in response to Kenny's ludicrous post.

But to address yours: Very, very few players drafted are NBA ready. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't leave for the NBA. I don't think he'll leave after this year, though.

Ludicrous? Please enlighten me as to why you think that way, since I took the time to point out my opinion on the areas in which I thought he was lacking. I like Dekker a lot, but just because he plays for UW does not make him a god. Perhaps the things that I mentioned as shortcomings will be improved over the next few years, perhaps not. But I don't believe he is anywhere near ready to go to the NBA right now as some folks have mentioned. He is a good player on a very good team. I will be very surprised if he gets drafted to play in the NBA though.

Every notable and respected NBA draft/scouting site has him going in the 1st round 15-20 range of this year's draft.

That is why you saying that he won't get drafted and that he's "a good college player, but that's it" is ludicrous.

For the record, this is blatantly false. Unless you are the one deciding who is respected and notable.

Fascinating. I just checked 4 different sites that project the NBA draft and only found him listed in one of them at #21, while he was not in the top 60 for the other 3. We'll see how it plays out, but I will be very surprised.

I said notable and respected. As in the ones that actually have a pulse on what NBA execs are thinking: Draft Express and ESPN are by far the best two. I'd start there if I were you.

I'm not sure what you were looking at, but if you're not starting with those two, you aren't doing it right.

If you don't think a 6'8" kid with the fluidness and athleticism of Dekker can play in the NBA, you don't really know how to evaluate basketball players at all. I really enjoy you thinking he isn't athletic enough. That is probably the most egregious of your statements. I realize some people think any white kid isn't athletic, but you have no idea what you are talking about if you can't see the athleticism Dekker has is EASILY NBA level.

You should probably watch this entire video and get yourself educated.

A pessimist is always alone. An optimist is always just two people away from a threesome.

Chad Ford released his new rankings yesterday and he moved Dekker up from 22 to 18.

Rankings that don't have him listed believe he isn't turning pro this season.

For further proof, check on any NFL Mock draft updates prior to Melvin Gordon's decision to stay, he wasn't listed on almost any of those, as well.

As someone who hasn't watched that much Badger basketball myself, and who would never consider myself an expert on making judgments, I find your statements totally ludicrous. It's not that I have any reason to disagree with you, it's just that you're speaking with a ton of certainty and you consistently brag about not watching the NBA. If Chad Ford has him at 18, and you don't even watch the pro game, what credibility do you have?

Also, for the record, I think the statement about some sites not thinking he'll come out is probably true. NBADraft.net, which was posted, either thinks he's the worst prospect to ever enter he draft or hasn't rated his attributes yet (http://nbadraft.net/players/sam-dekker).
