I heard a rumor about a possible Kansas v. UW Insight Bowl. I bet we end up in that bowl but who we play is up in the air.

We have 2 wars, a struggling economy, and terrorism to worry about and he is worried about a play-off in college football?

[] Both McCain and Obama were on ESPN the night before the election when Obama talked about changing the BCS (in response to Chris Berman, who asked him what he would change about sports if he could). You make it sound like he's putting all his resources into the BCS. I doubt he cares much or will do much anything about it, he was just another politician trying to play into the sports fans' favor.

The only thing wrong with the BCS is that it has left a few teams out that perhaps should have been included. But then again does that not come down to which teams you favor?
I've always been a supporter of the current format, and I agree with many of the changes that have been made, and think a few should be made, but a playoff is somethng I dont think it needs.
Keep all the Bowls, with the current tie-ins, and dont dilute it to a play-off. The pagentry of things like the Rose parade, and the presentations of the trophies will be lost and the signifigance of winning the Rose, Fiesta, Orange, or Sugar would be lost.

Keep in mind he really has no power for the next 8 weeks. He could do diplomatic stuff, but he's wanted to make it clear that Bush is still president, and doesn't want to make it seem like the US has two presidents. He can't really do anything other than form his team for his presidency and plan with them, so its not so crazy that he would do something like encourage people in College Football to have a Playoff.

Remember, he's not even a Senator at this point. And, he's not really doing anything beyond encouraging the higher-ups in College Football to have a playoff. I don't see a problem with it, seeing as it seems to be the majority opinion that there should be some sort of playoff.

Too bad most of you posting on here didn't have to live through the pre-Alvarez era, becuase if you did--you would be happy that the Badgers are solid enough year in and year out to make it to some type of bowl. Some folks have become spoiled. They'll bounce back.

I agree. This whole "BCS Calibur or bust" is a very spoiled approach to being a college football fan.

Especially when its expected year in and out.

While I am too young to have seen the pre alvarez era, I can certainly appreciate the numbers and second hand stories from my parents-grandparents about those years.

My dad has a favorite story about how awsome it was that one time the Badgers put up 3 points agaisnt Miami. Imagine being happy to just haved scored 3 points in one game.

What was great about that was UW drove down the field to start the game and kicked the FG. The "we scored first" chant was used liberally that day from what I recall.

What he said.

According to Jake Bschere from the Badgers on doorcountydailynews.com he said he believed the badgers would play in the Insight Bowl vs Kansas.
