ARTIFICIAL TURF COULD BE REALITY AT INGALLS BY 2008 SEASON

RIPON - The Ripon School Board Monday night gave its approval to a plan which could bring artificial turf to Ingalls Field for the 2008 season. The plan would include $360,000 in private fundraising, $250,000 in payments from Ripon College, and $162,491 in payments from the Ripon School District. The district's money would actually come from the money projected to be spent on maintaining the current grass surface in the future, and the continued budgeting of funds used to pay off a loan taken out several years ago to make improvements to the facility.

INGALL'S FIELD IN FRONT OF CITY OF RIPON

The Ripon Common Council is considering a topic usually reserved for the School District of Ripon?Ingall?s Field. Chris Johnson, who is working with a group collecting private donations to fund artificial turf at Ingall?s Field, brought a proposal forward to the city that would give the city the roll of conduit for the financing for the project, enabling the project to get a 3.77 percent interest rate.
City administrator Steve Barg says the city?s good name would buy the project a lesser interest rate. Johnson says if the city agrees to support the project, it would then hold the lease for the turf on Ingall?s Field and would make the payments to the field turf company from monies collected from the School District, Ripon College and the private donations. This proposal will come back before the city at it?s April 10th meeting for a vote.[link=http://www.wrpnam.com]www.wrpnam.com[/link] - March 27
