MadCity - Every shot is real. Some took a few tries, some took a few hours.

thats y when i went on there first every related video was about video editing. and the one with the bad was ridiculous. anybody whos ever hit a basketball with a baseball bat knows that it does not do that. i give you credit tho it was a well put together vid.

That's because we've never posted on youtube before and didn't know how to tag it. We used Cyberlink Powerdirector to edit the length of the videos so all the misses weren't in there. All shots in the video were made, no video tricks. We had to pump up the basketball a lot so the bat shot would work. It was a forty yard bat hit. That one took a long time....

Are you sure that was the only thing you used the program for?

exactly []

Hmmm idk I watched the video I'm not expert but it looks pretty real. How hard is it to edit like that?

I don't really think it is that hard. I have no clue how to do it but seeing some of the shots they made are next to impossible and it is almost too obvious it is edited.

We wouldn't know how to edit like your talking about. Check out the software. The specialty editing you are takling about cannot be done with that software. At least I don't think it can. Not sure how you would do it actually. It was tough enough to figure out how to get it from the camera to youtube.

You guys talking about how impossible the shots were to make, and saying it is obvious it was edited in, only makes it better that we actually did make them. Not saying it was easy, it took half the summer to do. Most of it is flat out luck and repetition. Glad you like them. I know it must be tough to associate Parker and basketball, but get over it.

You hit a Basketball with a Bat from pretty far away and it even goes that far let alone go in lol.

Tell you what, if you want, I will post the raw footage so you can see all the missed shots leading up to the one we made. It took two days to make that bat shot, but the clip that has it is around five minutes long (183MB). It makes it pretty obvious it was made when you see it.
In regards to the software, we had to use some type of software to edit the videos. No one wants to see the misses. Plus we had to add music. And we had a JVC Everio digital video camera which uses a weird file system to store the video. It is a .MOD file which is not easy to convert to mpg/avi/wma to upload to YouTube. It's a pain.

It's clear to me that they are all legit.
I'd say you have to prove nothing to anyone.
It was entertaining and I'd imagine took ton's of time to put together.
Congrats and thanks ...

Trick editing on shots like that and making it look legit is not an easy task. I've worked with television pros and it's ridiculosuly time-consuming, and almost never comes out perfectly.

Think about the LeBron James commercial where he's shooting jumpers from 85 feet. Those look great the first time, but if you inspect it closely you can see the inconsistencies in the basketball on it's flight. Same with the Michael Vick ad where he throws the football out of the stadium. And those are PROFESSIONALS with the best equipment money can buy.

Considering they're using a trial version of a not-so-good editing software and they weren't even sure how to post to YouTube when they started, I'm guessing they have neither the expertise or the equipment to pull off a convincing fake.

Leave him alone. It's fun, it took a lot of time and effort. Hang out in your driveway long enough, and you'll hit a few miracles too.

In fact, I'd turn the challenge around. If anyone can make a doctored video that looks even half as real as these shots, I'd be impressed.

On the bright side, this does give an excuse to post one of my favorite YouTube clips:

It is annoying how everyone always is bashing Parker. Yes they had a bad year, but so what. The video was nice. I wish Parker luck this year! I like how some of you keep your attitude possitive even with people bashing you all the time.

Thanks luvball!

WISC News 3 ran the video on their show yesterday. Pretty cool.

although some of these shots may be real and you actually did them. there is no way that all of these shots are real and done without editing. you said you guys spent all of your summer working on it. the only thing you guys were working on all summer were climbing on the roof of houses and shooting airballs right before the guy throws the football in. oh and editing good video though

Im not trying to be mean but yes 1-20 year is bad but according to wishoops they have won 16 games total since 2002. And like some other people said they really shouldve spent most of there summer working on real shots and their game. People are always bashing them and probably will continue to do with videos like this because it is clear that they have devloped a losing mentality and aren't worried about changeing the culture of the team and program to becomeing a competative winning bball team within the big 8.

On a brighter side some of the shots were amazing and if they were all real I am pretty impressed.

There were plenty of airballs but all shots are 100% real. I don't know why it is so hard to believe. Like the one poster said, we couldn't edit these and make them look real if we tried. It's too hard to do. Even if we had the right equipment, which is way too expensive for us. It's just repetition and luck. Glad you think they are impossible though. Makes it even better knowing we made them.

i did agree with that it was annoying that they were bashing parker until i heard parker players at a summer tournament talking about how marquis mason is not good at basketball and is not big enough to play WR for UW in football. i laughed and walked out of the gym

Lol wow that is just funny. Now I have a good reason to bash Parker. You were 1-20 and have no ranked players in the state while Marquis is ranked #10 in the State for Basketball and Ranked #4 in the State for Football.

I don't know who you heard talking about Marquis that way but everyone on the team I know thinks Marquis is fantastic at basketball and football and we can't wait to watch him play both at UW. We are glad he chose UW so we can root for him. Nothing but the utmost respect for Marquis. He is a phenominal athlete.

Also, don't let the opinion of a couple of idiots who don't know what they are talking about, represent our team. Whoever they were, they don't speak for Parker. We respect Marquis and DO NOT look forward to playing him. He's a beast.

We have spent our summer working on our game. We played in three leagues, seven tournaments, and Open Gym three days a week all summer. The shots were just something fun to do in our spare time. Is it still OK to have fun, isn't it? At least we are not out being chased by the cops and spending our summers attending summer school.

We are putting in the effort and hopefully the results will be there. It won't be from a lack of trying. We are trying to change the losing mentality more than you know. But unfortunately all you forum guys seem to know better than we do. That's the frustrating part. But it's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

We will be improved from last year. But, the Big 8 is probably one of the toughest leagues in the state. So we will not improve enough to think we can place in the upper half of the league. We've got our goals and that's good enough for us for now. It won't happen overnight.

Great post and reply, you guys have been nothing but classy about this in light of some things said by others. It does not surprise me from kids but a coach should not play amateur psychologist.
