Seems pretty strange at first blush as if there was to be a joining you would think it would be with addidas teams and rebok not a nike team. Plus it appears that both Rick and Tommie Z. were (are) not happy with it as so implied on the Playground website. Still AAU is what it is and there could be many positives to the combination. Having done the circuit for many years now have personally concluded that for junior to be and senior to be high schoolers the large national circuit can be a positive but for anyone younger than 16u think time and money would be much better spent with more skill training and a much more local/regional circuit. For the big tourneys feel it is all about the $ which is huge for organizers with many events having over 500 teams involved-most often at the $500-600 per team range with a ridiculous only 3 game guarantee in horrible venues with incrediably lousy officiating. Having a 13u team playing on a shitty rubber court in an elementary school at 11pm at night in Houston does nothing for anyone except the pocketbook for the tourney organizer. End of story. the bb

Tommy-even though we often did not see eye to eye have always thought you were an honorable man with the best interests of the kids at heart. Wisconsin AAU will be lessoned if you no longer have involvement. Best wishes-the bb

Same to you... I know I came off harsh at times... I was "retiring" after this season no matter what...

Despite that article that appeared in the Journal, DTA is not the top program in Wisconsin. The 2007 team is good, but top to bottom across all age groups, there are are several programs that I would rank above DTA as a whole. But you can inlcude them in the discussion.

To my knowledge, there will be none.

2009 you are probably right, but the DTA 17U team next year (which will more than likely be made up exclusively of class of '08 players) is going to be loaded. I would be willing to bet they are the best 17U team in the state next year....

The team will retain the Wisconsin Playground Warriors name and be sponsored by Reebok.

I heard from a Running Rebels coach is that the new 16u team will become one team and they will just cut the other players.
