A school in Florida beat another one 91-0. They were winning 70-0 at halftime.

The coach of the winning team cannot catch a break. He is getting crap from people thinking what they did was wrong, and he is getting crap from parents whose kids were benched or didnt even play because things were getting out of hand.....

Yet the losing team says that the winners did nothing wrong by scoring 91 on them. The coach sees it as them not doing anything right and not stopping their opponent.
A Playoff will not be any more fair than the BCS.
No matter what happens, Favre > Rodgers.
St. Louis Cardinals = Class of MLB.
Carlos Gomez is the new Nyjer Morgan.....

Only ran 31 plays and kept most of his best players out of the game .

This coach should have the school named after him .

On the other hand ... Eden Prairie of Minnesota led Kennnedy by a lopsided score in the fourth quarter on Friday , Kennedy scored twice and Eden Prairie put the starters back in to score twice more .

TheOldRoller .. Eden Prairie looked like it was doing exactly like you did .

My only problem was the fact that when you are Eden Prairie ( Best in Minnesota ) and your playing Kennedy it looks bad .

Kimberly could definatly put up that many points if they wanted to. Pretty much every game they have played so far they have been up by 40 points or so at halftime.

I see what you mean. I bet he had a little more than 19 kids on his squad, too!

I didn't get to watch the end of the Eden Prairie game, but I do know that I once got accused of doing something similar and it wasn't what was going on. I'll bet a few coaches out there can sympathize.

First of all, this is an odd post for me since I am one of those who really does believe in "taking the air out of the ball" when you're way ahead, and I express that opinion frequently.

But I had a game where I was way ahead and put the second string in...

I only had 19 kids on the team, so second string included EVERYBODY that pretty much showed up for practice. And I had a few jag-around kids who never took practice very seriously and suffered from "motivational deficiency."

After they had surrendered a few practically uncontested scores at the end of the last game (I had been playing EVERYBODY every game regardless of score--obviously not varsity) this group had been told that they weren't getting playing time for free anymore; it had to be earned with effort. Three or four of the second string really responded with increased effort. But four or five still just jerked around. When they blew assignments, I called a TO and gave them a last chance, reminding them of their jobs, etc. When they did it again, I put the starters back in place of those four kids.

Immediately, the opposing coach started yelling and complaining. Not to mention the parents of most of the benched kids. One dad then yelled, "Good! If he ain't gonna play hard, don't let him play!" That helped with other parents who then got it.

First play, one of the starters picked off a pass and returned it for a TD. Another recovered a fumble on the kickoff. I put the other kids back in and they played much better. Parents eventually got it, but opposing coach fumed after the game and almost refused the handshake. He never did accept my explanation.

So, while I am a big one for arguing in favor of calling off the dogs, sometimes it is more complicated than people like me seem to make it.
