If they are a new program trying to get off the ground and they consider themselves to be a JV team, I'm not sure why A-B would play them with their Varsity. There has to be plenty of JV (or even freshman teams in the WVC) that would have produced a more beneficial game for both sides.

I don't know if anyone is to blame, but that seems like a poor scheduling decision.

P.S. I wouldn't think A-B could count a win over a JV team on their official record. Anyone know?

I think purposly fouling... just so they can take free throws is a disgrace to the game. No matter what they situation is, you go out there and you play your defense (probably not too intense) but you do not purposly foul, them.

wouldnt u think the opposing team would at least let them score? from the sound of things they played their defense softer and not as agressive, but wow...

sometimes a team can absolutely not hit a shot, i played against a team like that, they didnt get shutout, but they got off a lot of shots for only ended up with 7 points.

I might have opted to foul them and give free throws until they scored. Maybe they couldn't hit those either.

From what I read on a post here last year. Wayland Academy's JV girls lost 73-0 last season.

In Wayland's defense they did have the leading scorer in the state in Margaret Rhatican, and now I've heard they have a freshman that is pretty good, Medley?

Thats true. Wayland had alot of new freshman and sophomore girls that jumped straight to varsity..meaning the varsity is definately on the rise, but the JV team is pretty weak again.

That is true. I'm not sure of the exact score but it was 70 something to 0. Sad, sad day for Wayland athletics. [&o]

Do these teams even practice? I mean, basketball is not the most difficult thing in the world, you can get lucky and get some points. Just throw it twords the hoop.

Its not that easy when you have a bunch of young girls playing for the first time ever and not really being able to dribble well, much less shoot the ball. Yes they practice but it takes a little while. Im guessing both of those schools had very small enrollments, and I know in Wayland's case alot of the girls were only on the team because its a rule that they had to be in a sport.
